Woodworking

It takes about 1/2 turn to tighten or loosen the clamp. Once loose you can pull the quick release lever and freely slide to open or close the clamp. You can slide it onto the object and a quick turn of the handle locks it in tight. Definitely the way to go.

Do you think lumber prices will come down next year? I might be done this year if this keeps up.

I’m working on healing wood with paint. I’m getting better with this stuff but it’s difficult like serving melting ice cream. It doesn’t smell so bad now. It still smells like fish but with slight ammonia and it is still very hard to paint and get a good coat. I am still getting that strange tobacco spit and I don’t know if the paint is leeching it out of that old wood or it is coming out of the paint. When I finally finish this painting and woodwork should get easier for me.

This is literally like tuna.

Trying to use as much paint as I can. And It looks like I might have even split some boards just with that paint coat chemically affecting them.
I had these on hand and should fit just perfect without running into each other. I might screw them in with just a slight offset angle and pray they don’t split the studs. No electric driver. Just joints, sinews, tendons, blood, sweat, bones and muscles.

You want that ryobi but dan? I don’t think I’ll be needing it unless I use a socket wrench. Seriously looking for hand drills. The crank and egg beater types.

Some days it honestly feels like I have one of these for a leg. Even the way the knee sits in the meniscus feels like it was oddly fitted and could be easily removed at times.
I hope it never gets to this for me. This conjures up childhood images of pirates. The leg literally was taken of a chair. I would like to get rid of some of the wooden chairs here.
They hurt my legs.

I thought wooden staircases had pepper inside from watching tv when I was young.
Anyone ever made or owned a wood pepper grinder? I also thought pepper was used in muskets.

I did some more painting today and it’s like preparing an ark. Just seeing how some old rotted unprotected lumber that has sat out for a decade or more be sturdy and even sealable enough to make a watertight structure. I used to have a work attitude to always honor and bring glory to God in my work whatever work I was doing and that my work was just not my working and working for God but also my praise and worship of God outside of chapel and services.
With that said have you ever had this problem with your hands when it seems your heart is good but evil just tried to find a way to infect you? Maybe it’s my food prep. But I hate my fingers looking back at me like this.

Reminds me of Evil Dead. Ever deal with this problem Tychicus?

Is it worth it? You know the biblical verses right?

I think the gloves I’m wearing are drying my hands out that or the salt is drying out my finger tips. I had an easy 100 pound crush grip working out with my grippers and today I would have trouble popping a pimple.
Get any ideas for that vice yet Tychicus?

Anyone prefer these to regular paint brushes?
First time trying them for me. Not bad seem too clean easy with just water. It’s still like handling melting ice cream.

That tobacco juice spit is coming out from the wood it seems. I kept painting over areas because they look deceptively like unfinished wood but it’s just the color under the white making it look a light blonde color.

I’ve never tried those but I can’t see how they’d be better. Paint brushes are cheap.

Some are expensive and the quality of the hairs or bristles is often the reason why. In theory no brush strokes with those sponges but they still leave a visible trail.

I like the foam brushes for wood, Mark. I haven’t made anything that big so they have worked well.

I am using too much paint per stroke and it is making a sloppy mess. Seem to able to put more on with a brush that a sponge if it is thick in consistency.

So I was going to screw my legs and top piece today. Should I use just half the screws per bracket to prevent a split? I was going to put the ugliest ends inside but now I’m worried about the wood splitting. Also worried that I need these things firmly attached and boards should be fine if nailed all the way through, should be fine with a screw and even less chance of splitting. Not going to drill any starter.

Drill pilot holes and use all the screws.

hmmm okay

I choose those bit which about the same size as the screw shaft. It won’t work with my dremel so currently this cursed hammer drill (set to drill is my option). I got 4 brackets fitted to 8 legs and 1 V screwed so far. I screwed the screw in with a screwdriver for a forearm workout. I might keep working but was going to work shoulders out tonight for an hour at least.

The screwheads protrude a few millimeters but it is fine.
