If I bought my house today, my payments would be $1800/month higher than they are now. I realize this is not just a usa problen. I probably wouldn’t have been approved for the loan, although I make $20000 more per year compared to 5 years ago. The value has gone up 215000 and the rates by 4%.

USA socialism. SS is already a socialist program, but this makes it even moreso. Currently, the most a person can contribute to social security is $8246. If a single person makes over $25,000 they will be taxed 6.2% after that. That stops at $168000. So, 168000-25000 = 133000x6.2% = 8246. If you make a billion dollars, you still pay 8246 into social security. The bill would get rid of that 8246 max. It would also put more money in it, so those receiving it, don’t have to pay taxes on it. What is unknown, is if you pay 20000 into it per year instead of 8246, how much will you get when you retire. Your collection now is based on how much you put in.
There’s a few folks whining about it. I wonder if they have a solution themselves. My guess is they want to get rid of it. My wife does not pay into it, because she is a teacher. The town pays her, not the US government. It’s odd to me how that is acceptable.
I don’t understand the system enough to have an opinion, but I believe we are going to need a new economic system in the relatively near future (within 50 years). When machines do all the work, humans need to survive somehow.
Interesting move. It won’t make a big difference but it will make those voting against it look like assholes.
I also don’t think the social security bill will pass. Or even get voted on. We can’t even vote on what time it should be.

I see the you have to click on the link. He will discuss at SOTU tonight. Basically, if you sell a house in the next 2 years, under the median average, you get a $10000 tax break. Or if you buy a home for the first time, you get a 10000 dollar tax break.

I have no article to match my content. Just throwing my opinion around. In the SOTUA last night, I thought it was real nice of Biden to acknowledge Laken Riley’s murderer for what he is, an illegal immigrant. Her death was senseless and Biden not only allowed it, he is directly responsible for it.
Lol. He’s definitely not responsible, but I did laugh that he called her Lincoln instead of Laken. I didn’t watch it, but it seemed he did well from what I’ve read. Did he talk about the $10000 tax break for firsr time buyers?
2028 should be interesting. I assume Newsom will run. Probably in the primary against a Midwestern woman. Who knows what the Republicans will do. I guess it depends if Trump wins, who the VP is.

If you take Russia out of Europe and that’s what I did when I was in Norway. I just pretended this massive country to the east didn’t exist, because it didn’t really seem to fit. Europe is 2/3 the size of USA if you take Russia out.
There is a lot to unpack here but in a nutshell, Hur had to defend why he failed to bring charges against Biden, which he stated in the hearing was because of Biden’s current mental state. The problem I have with that is that I believe Biden has had some of these documents for many, many years. Draw your own conclusion.

Dan, for those of us who do work, going to four days would be great but since Covid, people aren’t going back into the workforce. Especially the younger generation. Where I live, there are job openings everywhere but nobody wants to work. They don’t want to work knowing they are paying for illegals to run rampant around the country. People don’t want to work knowing illegals are being compensated for nothing. They don’t want to work knowing their taxes are being dumped into wars they don’t want to fund and then funneled back to weapons manufacturing companies to keep the wars going. Doing drugs that Obama opened the border for is much more appealing.
