Updating

All done. Uneventful.

I’ve been procrastinating an update. I’m going to get it done. First one in two months. The site will be down for awhile.

All done. Uneventful but slow. Let me know if you find issues.

There’s an update. I haven’t done one for 2 months so this one could be ugly. I’m going to do it tonight. The site will be down for a short while if everything goes right, and a long while if everything goes wrong.

All done. Uneventful. I cleaned up some stuff and we should be good for a month or two.

There was a weird thing where the top bar no longer showed the background color.

It’s fixed now.

my thingie still blitzes on third down
i’ll wait for v 2.0

The lab had a computer downtime from midnight to 430 am yesterday. With daylight savings in there. Good times.

I had some system events. Actually this was and adapter issue with the driver I am assuming. There was an adapter wireless driver update or something on my HP support assistant and that was 2/28. No problems. Suddenly 3/1 no wireless exists. The adapter had an issue and I tried resetting and even the modem and router. I tried all the drivers possible without connectivity and the device will not start with any. No rollback possible. I was going to reset the entire laptop. I tried to remove the latest update but only could remove the quality update not the other listed (what was it). I also restored to an earlier date. Now it is blue screen of death.
I cannot even click the c drive to restore to it just won’t show an check.

Pity it is still under warranty. Running some other tests now. Going to buy a new usb flash drive and the try online support on another device, older laptop, tablet, or phone. Phone only advice is only for under 90 days.

Maybe I have to send it in, maybe it isn’t covered. But it was a shrewd way to prevent internet access and disable a computer.

The Lenovo shutdown I had on my prior all on one was even more clever. Try flashed the bios on the graphics and even when trying restore from boot screen you couldn’t see anything.

How efficiently obliterated. I went back and forth to blue screen of death to black screen trying the HP restore and troubleshooting as well as the BIOS running system checks etc.

Oddly first no WiFi. Then a malfunctioning adapter also some error message on a USB port I didn’t see any affect of. Then I can restore. I can’t access Windows. I can’t click on the c drive to restore. Then after just a restart no operating system exists on the disk. I am prompted to install an OS. Another return to main menu and now a check under hardware components and there is no hard disk drive. I never opened this computer once.

What I am thinking is that possibly this adapter update in HP assistant or whatever actually wrote to the BIOS to low level format the entire C drive while it ran system diagnostics and extensive test loops.

I got a SanDisk Cruze Dial with 32 GB. Hopefully they can direct me to a download fix or I am willing to send it in.

This was a new computer not refurbished. It feels damn 15 years old.

Fire just destroyed one of the data centers I use. This same company hosts BBAD, but thankfully in another data center. Just be aware this can happen anywhere. If BBAD ever disappears, I suggest you email me to see if/when I can get it back up again. reg at natarajan dot ca.

Oh, don’t concern yourself with our worries and we won’t concern ourselves with yours. As long as you address the issue with lightning speed, we will patently wait, on Twitter.

I found a way to bring peace into my household and stop contentions and screaming to some extent but it brought a few new ones. Just by doing a backup. I found this just laying around by one of the many older laptops we have. I couldn’t use the tools on it to back up the drive as they seem not there or unable to open. No problem as I just did some extensive file transfers and saved all the pictures and forms to the few existing ones on it form wherever source somebody had done before. This drive was an answer to prayers you wouldn’t believe about computer arguments with senior folks. Seagate slim back up with 1 TB of storage. I could have logged in to OneDrive and just sent it there but my niece locked up her account and has to log in again to adjust account settings whenever she has the time to stop by and do so.

This was like the perfect block of steel Macleod needed to forge his katana in one of the Highlander movies.

Now here is the new argument. I want to buy an all in one desktop for my parents just for internet browsing and email. But this one still works although there are some graphics and display issues sometimes booting indicative of pending death. If the visual dies out first I can’t delete the drive to donate it intact as we had agreed upon. I would have to physically remove it and take it apart. The problem is they don’t seem to understand that I understand the sooner I buy the computer the sooner the warranty expires. It’s hopeless and usually some other underlying issue as everything new we bought basically sits in boxes for 1-2 years until the warranty expires and there is no option to purchase an extended warranty.

I worked with sea tools before and loaded this little white finger of death up with lots of them. The drive is older and still an HDD drive on a laptop which is unheard of with new models which are all solid state. I have an ssd from my old desktop just sitting around I wonder if I can access again.

Pretty much all I need is something more than the Windows delete and format but a low level formatter to set everything back to binary zero.

Either that or a really powerful magnet. I have 50 and 100 pound magnets for scrap pickup.
This is a crossover for chem teacher.

I don’t even mess with suppositories after I saw this.

I don’t think I could do it with a magnet. I would have to open it up and scratch the disk surfaces.

It was like this.

Matthew 10:34-36 34"Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35For I have come to turn "‘a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law- 36a man’s enemies will be the members of his own household.’

With Jesus Christ I could have saved the date on a common stone.

What does that mean?

I would comment on your other post about your desktop but that looks like a post for someone like Reg, who can relate.

Now that emails are fixed, I’m getting those irritating update notices again. The site will be down for a half hour or so later tonight. Unless we drink wine tonight in which case it will be down tomorrow night. I’m a lightweight these days and can’t handle my liquor. lol.

I had a glass of wine but I feel fine so updating will start in a few minutes.

All done. Uneventful tonight.

Moving back to Surrey tonight. No computer once I hit submit. I’ll still have my phone but won’t be very active until tomorrow.
