Travels

Mine was only $14/day for parking. Probably could have scheduled the Uber. We land at 958 pm and I’ll be up at 501. We are leaving ft Lauderdale, so the chance of leaving on time is 0%. Either way, we live 20 minutes from the airport. Hoping to be home by 1030, but 1130 is probably more realistic.

Going to a unitarian church today for Easter. Not my favorite thing, but the church is friendly.

Do you think Toronto is too expensive?

Definitely. And I have never seen it look worse. Graffiti and potholes. This new Chinese mayor is horrible.

Resembles Canadian healthcare

at least all canadians have healthcare…

Sure, but it’s worthless if you can’t use it.

all get to use it, unlike people that dont have healthcare

All get to claim they are covered. Few actually get to use it.

And don’t want healthcare that isn’t really care ant all. It’s a circle jerk.

yes naturally people dont make use it all the time, only when they need it

foolish, but may you still remain lucky and not need it (and not get yourself and your family bankrupt)

Not as foolish as people who own and control everything.

that depends how you look on it; you voted for those people and you ended up with no healthcare

Michele, why do you talk about things you know nothing about? I live in Canadian healthcare. I’m living with diabetes in it, and lived through Isa’s cancer with it. I live day to day with every little problem in Canadian healthcare. My assessment? It is easily the best system I’ve experienced in the world, and unlike you, I have experienced many (including the truly third-world US system). Everyone gets to use it, nobody gets asked for money.

As if that is a tragedy. If I get sick, I can apply for Obamacare, which will not reject me for a preexisting condition.

So you would tell me about things you know everything about.

Sure, it is, unless you consider the wait times.

Oh, I have no doubt you’ve experienced healthcare all over the globe considering your travel habits but not everyone gets to use it. It’s not free to illegal immigrants, which is well documented to be free for anyone in the U.S. Admitting yourself into the hospital emergency room affords you the best and most qualified healthcare on the planet. We get the best in America because we pay our doctors what their education is worth, even though most are Indian and difficult to understand.

Really? No out-of-pocket fee for dental care? Have you had your eyes checked lately? They don’t send a bill to illegal immigrants?

ah nice, obama to the rescue
then again that might be difficult according to chatgpt:

In the U.S., coverage under the Affordable Care Act (“Obamacare”) is usually limited to specific enrollment periods, and you generally can’t just sign up the moment you get sick unless you qualify for an exception.

Here’s how it works:

:spiral_calendar: 1. Open Enrollment (main signup window)

  • Happens once a year (typically Nov–Jan).
  • Anyone can sign up, whether healthy or sick.
  • Coverage starts the following year.

:warning: 2. Special Enrollment Period (SEP)

You can enroll outside open enrollment only if you have a qualifying life event, such as:

  • Losing other health insurance
  • Moving to a new state
  • Getting married or divorced
  • Having a baby

:backhand_index_pointing_right: Getting sick alone is NOT a qualifying event.

:hospital: 3. If you’re already sick without insurance

  • You may still get care (e.g., emergency rooms must treat you).
  • But you’ll likely have to pay out of pocket.
  • You may qualify for:
    • Medicaid (if income is low)
    • Charity care programs at hospitals

:light_bulb: Key takeaway

You can’t wait until you’re sick to sign up for Obamacare unless you also have a qualifying life change. The system is designed that way to prevent people from only enrolling when they need expensive care.

Wait times are lengthy if you want a “family doctor”, which is an obsolete and antiquated concept. If I want to see a doctor, I can do it within a few hours by videoconference and get my drugs delivered within another few hours. Isa’s cancer surgery was almost instant. If you have a non-urgent desire to see a specialist, you can wait months, but really, who cares?

And for your other questions, eye exams do cost about $40 USD. Dental care is free for people making under $100k.

Well, no. It was Trump to the rescue when he removed the requirement to carry insurance and added the requirement that no one be rejected for a preexisting condition.

I am aware of that. If I have an emergency, I am afforded the same rights as an illegal immigrant at hospital emergency room services. If that be the case, I can set up a payment plan that feeds them until Rapture. If I think I have something, such as cancer, I can apply for insurance when the window opens. If I die waiting, I’m ready, right now, because I thirst.

No one except the old lady, living in pain, waiting for a hip replacement.

What about illegal immigrants? I know how you feel about making sure American borders are open to them and that we feed, house and offer care for their health.

I was sorry to read about your mother, Reg. May she rest in peace. Will be thinking about you and praying for your family in the coming days.

i think your illogical hate towards immigrants is causing you to be delusional and in reality it would create a huge financial debt mess for you and your direct family
still… may you stay healthy and you, your husband and children never find out what will really happen
