Cliff notes?
No, imo you donāt understand the point of Brave New World. In that book, Huxley suggests that in our effort to make life more comfortable and less dangerous, we are creating a world where humanity no longer has meaning. He is saying that without struggle, we are nothing.
Ok, that makes sense.
The book was about a society that prioritizes comfort, pleasure, and stability over struggle, individuality, and intellectual depth. The hero of the story tried to isolate himself from that world but failed. His suicide was his final rejection of that society and its values.
And no, Nico, he was not a coward.
Why donāt you title this āI wrote a book report in high school and this was the book I readā. I want credit and admiration all over again decades later without pursuing an English degree.
Donāt feed the narcissistic ego. Setting this as the apex of intellectualism you may come close to but never surpass is a mistake.
You need to do better.
Your thinking is clear. You think you can be just as popular as Diddy by reading The Great Gatsby and throwing similar parties bigger and bigger every time.
You are just as dysfunction and egocentricā¦
You want people to believe there is nothing else out there other than your lousy standard.
Why do you keep starting up again?
USA needs respect. You poke fun, you make the USA seem weak or vulnerable, you down discord and schism an divisiveness you real your reward.
You get hurt. You get hurt bad and shamefully each and every time. And you are proved wrong.
Blushing? Good. Enemies of The United States see that. They know there are consequences and chances are poor.
You are going to get hurt.

Register yourself for any USA possible flight transfers or you are in trouble snowbird along with your travel companion.

No worries here. I paid extra to not fly through the USA, Mark. Weāre flying to Toronto to visit my mother, then to MontrĆ©al for a few days (Erika has never seen it), and then directly to San Salvador, and back through MontrĆ©al. No US stops.
Yes get used to paying extra alien nation. American airspace isnāt for its enemies. You need to show that kind of respect and fear as do others nations.

I donāt respect the Obese Orange Idiot, Mark. I do fear him. I respect the 47% of sane Americans who voted against the Cheeto. I hope they survive this insanity. The rest of you can lose your jobs and homes and starve for all I care.
You are incapable of respect. Fear is good enough and knowing you will be hit. Since you are cowardly and weak. You are fainting more with your words now.

yes he was, a real hero would try to change that world, not give up and abandon it
Didnāt read the book, but just like what I read about Slaughterhouse, itās much too dark to me. I have enough to do not to drown in the manmade darkness I have to face in my little real world.
From the book description by Reggie, I donāt consider the main character as a hero either, but also not as a coward. If someone sees no hope in fighting against something anymore eventually, yet also doesnāt want to live anymore within such an environment and commits suicide, that person is just someone who ran out of hope and energy to me. No negative judgement by me.

interesting⦠ok lets make the story a bit more realistic: a husband and a wife have 3 young kids together and a couple of dogs, they are happy but they struggle a bit to get by⦠and when one of the kids needs an expensive eye operation the husband decides they dont want to apply for a loan or get another job and cant take it anymore and commits suicideā¦
you really will have no negative judgement for this person?
What in the world does that have to do with a man deciding he doesnāt want to live in the world that the human race has created?

everything since everyone has someone that will be hurt when they commit suicide
I agree with Reggies comment. This scenario is a total different one.
Hope is a very individual source of energy. A person with no (positive) responsibilities based on love, has less sources of energies. Cause those persons have still hope and thus a reason not to give in yet.

no its the exact same scenario because everyone has someone they will hurt when they commit suicide
