what is a lie to one… what do you think he lied about?
there is no only one real truth, there are lots of them

I don’t think he lied. He straight up lied according to his own belief. Why would an atheist tell anyone Heaven is real? That’s completely contradictory to their faith, which, technically, is in nothing.
it all depends how you look at it; your heaven doesnt need to be the same as his? or to quote a classic (awful) song: “heaven is a place on earth”
if heaven exists in your (delusional) mind, then it can also exist in others and thus also in his (delusional) mind; maybe he believes his heaven is at the house where his wife used to live and where his dog is waiting for him… or maybe he pretends his wife is still around there, so its his heaven?
Yes, it does.
Not if it’s not the same “Heaven”.
…to be petted. Sounds like Heaven, for a dog.
Heaven is sitting in an empty room thinking about a woman that isn’t there?
why is that? you got it trademarked?
so there are different heavens!
i heard some humans pay big money to be petted or leashed
thinking about a woman that isnt there or a god that isnt there… same difference to me…
No.
No.
Pay-for-Heaven? Weird!
Yes, I thought that’s where you were going. If that’s Heaven to you, I wish you the best.
yes! why pay when you can just pretend for free!
thx! but to me its just a place people make up in their minds to make themselves feel better
Yes, and I wouldn’t just lie about heaven (and only about that) to a deadly sick child but to any child. It’s just like I never would tell a child that Santa Claus (or rather our Bavarian Christkind) doesn’t bring the gifts cause they don’t exist. Eventually, the children realize it with age anyway. If society gives that freedom (which most Muslim countries don‘t). This is a harmless lie (guess the English speaking people call it a white lie). I certainly wouldn‘t lie if that same very child would say something racist, sexist or misogynist because some religion said so or if it asks me about some other religious stuff, because I think a lie here has the potential to cause plenty of harm.
Update on the tv section. I stand corrected, as I tried again and 3sat brings a concert of Billy Joel in Long Island from 1982, lol. On Silvester that public broadcaster brings concerts all day. Usually I always pick a two or three. Guess Sting and Springsteen will be on their list as well.
I will never stop loving Tom Ellis in Lucifer and Miranda and always watch some clips if I am in the mood for wanting to laugh and be entertained by some handsome guy I even personally find very likeable. I didn’t like to watch him in other flicks yet due to changes in his looks which unfortunately takes away most of the charm and charisma. But here he looks and sounds fantastic and the scenes are funny too. A combination hardly found.
I think I haven‘t posted this flick yet.
Nonsense. You interprete once again something into the definition of a word which isn’t there.
Definition of Atheism by Merriam Webster:
A lack of belief or a strong disbelief in the existence of a god or any gods. Or a philosophical or religious position characterized by disbelief in the existence of a god or any gods.
The lack of belief or strong disbelief isn‘t synonym to knowing. I also never heard or read any Atheist claiming to know that no God exists. I don‘t exclude there might exist someone who does, but that doesn‘t mean that’s what Atheism is.
We have had this debate before. I admit that some people (incorrectly) use Atheism to mean a lack of belief in God. I assert that the original (and correct) definition is the explicit denial of the existence of a God. The very word Atheist means one who denies the existence of a God.
The term atheist (from the French athée), in the sense of “one who … denies the existence of God or gods”,[37] predates atheism in English, being first found as early as 1566.
I would also note that we have another perfectly good word for those who lack a belief in God, namely Agnostic. It is foolish to compromise the original clear meaning of Atheist to include Agnostics when the language is far better served by leaving this distinction in place, along with the additional linguistic clarity that it brings.
You used the word „know“ in your reply to Michele, Reggie. And also in your alternative definition to Merriam Webster, there is no such word to describe it. Again, I as all Atheists I ever read about or personally know, ever claimed to know that no God exists. Just like I do, they say it‘s rather likely or that they believe so, but they don‘t know for sure. Do you know any Atheist who says otherwise?
Plenty.
Richard Dawkins
Biologist and author of The God Delusion, Dawkins strongly argues that the concept of God is highly improbable and critiques religion as a delusion.
Christopher Hitchens
The late journalist and author of God Is Not Great, Hitchens firmly denied the existence of God and was a vocal critic of organized religion.
Sam Harris
Neuroscientist and author of The End of Faith, Harris explicitly denies God’s existence and critiques the incompatibility of religion with science and reason.
Daniel Dennett
Philosopher and author of Breaking the Spell, Dennett argues against religious belief and denies the existence of supernatural beings, including God.
Bertrand Russell
Philosopher and author of Why I Am Not a Christian, Russell explicitly denied the existence of God and considered religious belief intellectually unfounded.
A.C. Grayling
Philosopher and author of The God Argument, Grayling denies the existence of God and advocates for secular humanism as an alternative to religion.
lol like talking to chatgpt
Absolutely. Fastest way to compile the list she asked for.
lol i think she asked if you knew, not if chatgpt knows
If someone asks me “do you know where the library is?” and I look it up on my cell phone and tell them, they’re probably not going to say “wait, I asked if you knew, not if Google knew”. Unless they happen to be an irritating Dutch heckler.
yes, that would indeed be an incorrect answer to the question
That‘s a nice list, Reggie, but I deny the existence of a God as well, despite I don‘t claim to know it. So, please post a video or link a quote where they explicitly say to know that there does no God exist.
