lol staring at his navel while organising live aid eh? sounds like a very smart caring guy;)
lol perhaps you should give both another try and you might feel differently
Zauberhafte Version. Love it. Especially the female lead part as well as the background performance. A song about an adult man remembering his dead father in a loving and yearning way. Happy Fathers Day!
And hereās the original.
I like that song and love the piano part. Still turning the volume up when they bring it on the radio. Only learned a few years ago itās ugly context. Till that I didnāt focus on the lyrics at all.
I have no idea what the words were to the song you posted, Gunda, but it sounded really pretty.
Iām not surprised Israelis and Palestinians came together and collaborated on a song. I donāt think the war is as much with the citizens as it is with the leaders and their spiritual differences.
what is the ugly context?
Thinki explained it in his post to which I just responded.
Here is the English translation:
A Quarter To Seven
Dark rainy clouds are approached,
the nightfall comes fast.
Over the steel mill flicker the neon lights,
The windows in the village light up.
āWhere have you hang around all the time?
Take off the wet shoes now!ā
Sometimes I wish, it was a quarter to seven once again
and I wish I would come home!
And it should be saturday and there should be ring cake
And it should be already on the kitchen table.
And a pot full of hot chocolate and my cup next to it
And Iām allowed to turn the brown baking dish.
Chocolate flakes made with a grater
on the head of my hot chocolate.
Sometimes I wish, it was a quarter to seven once again
and I wish I would come home!
A letter between newpapers and advertising
shakens your base:
Anna and Hans, that go so good together
just went apart.
How envy you were, two, that love each other so much!
And suddenly it is all over.
Sometimes I wish, it was a quarter to seven once again
and I wish I would come home!
And Dad should be listening to the radio in the living room,
sunken in the old Grundig (german radio brand).
And his posture tells me: Donāt disturb now!
And as he moves his view over to me,
with this reproachful gesture moving his glasses up,
āGood grief! How do you look again?ā
Sometimes I wish, it was a quarter to seven once again
and I wish I would come home!
The hide gets thinner and the cup gets emptier,
the magic potion hardly works.
The misery gets deeper, the comfort seems weaker
And not everything heals anymore.
Where has my carelessness gone,
what made knowledge out of it?
Sometimes I wish, it was a quarter to seven once again
and I wish I would come home!
Laying down my bundle just for one moment
and with innocent cockiness,
Through dark ways towards the refuge
And believing: everything will be fine!
Sometimes I wish, things would have remained that easy.
And the ways just go straight ahead,
Sometimes I wish, it was a quarter to seven once again
and I wish I would come home!
That reads like a sad song.
True. But itās not sad in a negative way, at least not to me. I love this a capella version even better as the original (and I LOVE the original, lol), due to the wonderful light and solemn melody of the background vocals. It even has something spiritual to me.
funny, that sounds very much like some dutch dialect childrens song
No surprise due to the closeness of both areas. Itās common practice to use a common melody for creating a new song.
Hereās another version I dearly love.
how about your german eurovision song? lol do you like that one?
i think the message is great but geez its also a perfect example why germans should never ever try to be funny
those finnish guys werent allowed to put their middle fingers up (so they just taped their finger red lol) but this german girl doesnt care and just goes for it lol
Gott, idiotische.
