Aww think …I missed this! I’m still familiarising myself with the forums after all these years - and on a teeny weeny little phone screen instead of my desktop!! The struggle is real
Great song and clip. Hadn’t heard it before. I really like it! :musical_note::musical_note: :kissing_heart:

lol you are welcome / dont worryaboutit and no you didnt miss it… you are just a bit slow and fit right in with most of the others here

well since its an aussie band and that clip was quite famous uhm what? 15 years ago or so? i wondered if you introduced it to me…
somehow i doubt it was grizzlyrose who would share that so it must either have been sexykneespete or a senile poodle? lol

You’re not the first person to say that and I know you won’t be the last. What’s nice about that teeny weeny little phone screen is that you can stick it in your back pocket and take it with you and pick up where you left off last week last month or last year. Which is great, right? It’s a little déjà vu around here but we are used to hearing about the struggle.

Speak for yourself, whale worm.

 i always speak for myself (about everything including about others)

I don’t consider it proof. I do consider Bob Joyce to have a very powerful voice. I do think he sounds like Elvis.

lol yes i agree

Ha - I confess I do walk into a room and wonder what I walked in there for, however I’m convinced I’ve never heard of the band or song before so I’ll have to let ol’ sexy knees take the credit for that one!

Didn‘t follow the contest and I hate you for made me watch it. In Defence of our bad contribution though, the competitors weren‘t better either.

This is a wonderful song by Reinhard Mey about his favourite teacher which helped him „surviving“ school time and getting his Abitur. A wonderful poetic way to say thank you to her. It‘s great, that she was still alive when he published it. She was very pleased. I provide the German and English lyrics (Google translator with a few adjustments by me, especially due to the wrong usage of personal pronoms. But there are still mistakes in the translated text).

Charlotte

Hatten Sie in kurzer Frist
So lebensfroh wie eine tote Motte
Und wenn sie an der Grausamkeit
Nicht ganz zerbrochen ist –
Dann ist das allein dein Verdienst, Charlotte!
Dann ist das allein dein Verdienst, Charlotte!

Ich wusch Dr. Lenz den Wagen
Hab’ Frau Drews Fahrrad geputzt
Freiwillig den Tafeldienst übernommen
Hab’ das Klassenbuch getragen –
Es hat alles nichts genutzt
Ich bin nie von der Eselsbank weggekommen
Und all’ meine Lehrer fanden
Als Schulabgangsprüfung war
Dass mein Bildungsstand jeder Beschreibung spotte
“Und ich sag’, er hat bestanden!”
Herrschte eine Stimme, “Klar?” –

Such’ ich lang’ schon, doch erst nun
Wo ich die Schulzeit endgültig einmotte
Will ich es noch einmal wagen
Und mit diesen Zeilen tun! –
Ich denk an dich voll Zärtlichkeit, Charlotte!
Ich denk an dich voll Zärtlichkeit, Charlotte!

I think after all these years
I’ll write to you once
The distance allows me to see a lot more clearly
And reveal myself to you
You over the gloomy valley
My joyless school days as the only sun
You smuggled me with audacity
And cunning too -
Through trials, transfers, conspiracies!
Forgive me, but out of gratitude
I allow myself the “you” -
I sincerely greet you, Charlotte!
I sincerely greet you, Charlotte!

Robbed for my little happiness
I have sympathy after all
Tramped to respect my teachers
But with the nail soles
They have the pedagogy
Trampled on my child’s soul
And the little personality
They had in a short period of time
As joyful as a dead moth
And if it‘s not broken due to their cruelty
Then it’s all thanks to you, Charlotte!
Then it’s all thanks to you, Charlotte!

I washed dr Lenz the car
I cleaned Mrs. Drew’s bike
Took the table service voluntarily
I carried the class register -
It didn’t do any good
I never got off the donkey bank
And all of my teachers found
When the school leaving exam was
That my level of education defies description
And there was a voice
“And I say he passed! Period.” -
And you were not contradicted, Charlotte!
You were not contradicted, Charlotte!

That the sapling is just about to stand
And tree began to grow
Unconquered by the drumstick souls
That I walk upright today
And smile back yourself
Despite the wickedness and humiliation
I thank you for that, and for saying that
I’ve been looking for a long time, but only now
Where I finally mothball my school days
Do I want to dare to do it again?
And do with these lines! -
I think of you with tenderness, Charlotte!
I think of you with tenderness, Charlotte!

I clicked on it because of the green “G”.

Now I am infected. And the only way to format C:\ my brains again is with the RRRRingerrrrr Arrrrnos song. Sort of an antithesis to Mey

Huh, unexpected!
This is an anti government indoctrination center aka “public school”-song and a PRO CHRISTIAN FUNDAMENTALIST HOMESCHOOLING song and I love You for posting this, :kissing_heart: Gundi!!! (Even though the “music video” being quite “still”)

you are welcome and no! not even england with their zero points was worse lol

Admittedly I don’t know the English contest song, but heard the winner eventually and thus concluded they were all that bad.

what are you talking about? the winner was great  (i liked the finnish and the ukraines better though lol)

lol the english song wasnt that bad, quite a catchy rhythm and on rare occasions it wasnt out of key either!

You really have to respect a well planned globalist pandemic.

You would think someone who is such a strong believer in God would not be so fearful.

God told me big to fear man who can destroy the body but God Who can destroy both body and soul. I’ll try to post something a little less frightening.

I shouldn’t have said fearful. Paranoid would be the word.
