Omg, lol! Sorry, but despite it’s serious, I had to laugh how dry you served that. I have 31 paid vacation days per year. Usually I take 2 or preferably 3 weeks at once, as I need 1 week to pace down and get into vacation modus. That’s pretty normal in Germany. If there are special vacation plans like far away to Oceania or Asia, or at least planned long ahead like I did for the end of 2025 already, then also 4 weeks are usually no problem.

When I was young, I loved the book by Marion Zimmer Bradly “The Mists of Avalon” when reading it back then. And I also remember how sad I was, that they traded this depicted pagan religion for Christianity. This song reminds me of it because of the title.

You know I’m probably not going to read that book as I hate sad endings but I am curious, why did they trade their pagan religion for Christianity?

Isn’t that a happy ending for you?

For me, yes.

It‘s quite a long time since I read that book. I don‘t remember any particular reason. I just know that I was fascinated by those pagan rituals and myths, like this king stag. I always felt drawn to animals as symbols for a divine being, contrary to a God in a booooring human form. That‘s why I put up quite a few deers as Christmas decoration, lol. I heard a few myths about white stags and deers in general, when I was a kid. For example, that if a hunter kills a white deer, he will die soon as well. White deers were somewhat holy.

I did not see this film version of that book, but it gives you a bit of what it is like. I read on the net, that Bradleys book is feministic, but thats not true. The only feministic approach is, that the Pagan God is a Goddess. And that the story is told from a females perspective. But that’s it. This hardly qualifies for being called feministic already.

The only thing I glean from that is an attack, fire and death to end Christianity?

No.

Maybe this clip makes it more clear for you.

I don’t mean to be so disagreeable but that clip does not depict anyone trading their pagan religion for Christianity, but a declaration to worship God freely.

Even if they did trade paganism for Christianity, who cares? Paganism is foolish nonsense. Even if one thinks Christianity is foolish nonsense, too, it’s certainly no worse.

Paganism and Christianity or any other religion are all foolish nonsense.

Why do you say that? Aren’t you written in the Book of Life from the foundation of the world or has your name been blotted out?

Aaron Copland is generally regarded as melodramatic crap, but I love his stuff. Especially Fanfare for the Common Man.

Yes, me too. I actually wanted to post that Fanfare, but then I decided to go for this piece which I didn‘t know before.

Emerson, Lake & Palmer did a version I liked when I was a kid. I just listened to a few seconds of it just now and thought, “It’s amazing what crap I enjoyed when I was young.”

If I ever should go to Hamburg again, then only for two reasons:

  1. Attending a concert in the Elbphilharmonie.
  2. Visiting the Miniaturwunderland
  3. As a bonus I would do humanity a favour by bombing St. Pauli‘s brothel quarter off this earth. I wouldn‘t even demand to get paid for it.
