Simple but pretty.

I saw a chess puzzle just now. I wonāt bother posting it but it was hard. White to move and mate in two and nothing was obvious. I started brute-forcing it, looking at every possible move white could make, even the ridiculous ones. Then I thought, I should just ask ChatGPT. I was getting no pleasure from solving this problem, and there is no pride involved as nobody cares if I can solve this problem or not.
My world is changing drastically in ways I never thought it would.
lol it is entertain to watch you try.
Is that a good thing or no?
No. Itās not a good thing because Iām not sure what is left for me to do in this world.
Youāve conquered everything?
Everything Iām going to, yes.
Donāt get me wrong. I still love my life. We walked around Vancouver on a sunny winter day today. What a beautiful city we live in. We bought a pair of bicycles. Yes, another pair lol. Some people collect stamps, we collect bicycles. We stopped by the Christmas Market and looked at all the unhealthy but delicious looking food, then had a sushi lunch. Now weāre at our tiny downtown office pretending to work. Itās hard to imagine life getting any better than this.
Iāve just got no more big battles to fight.
Perhaps you should take a year off and travel the world.
Not a bad idea. Iām not even 60 yet. Perhaps in 5 or 10 years.
lol gotta love the logic of a guy that cannot solve a chess puzzle and then claims he has no more big battles to fightā¦
I thought better of that last post and deleted it. You are irritating, Nico. And not smart.
lol good for you⦠suggestion: try some small battles first
Thank you for your suggestion. In turn, I would suggest you work on not being quite such a low-iq simpleminded buffoon. Ever helpful.
lol welcome and thank you ![]()
Oh, geez! I wouldnāt wait. Go! Take your wife and get lost, somewhere warm, without your phones.
We love our life here in Vancouver, Michele. Lots of friends and activities, and I love my little business. Erika is almost a Canadian citizen, now. Sheās working on getting her biologist accreditation in Canada.
The timing isnāt right for us to go cruising. That time will probably come, but itās not today. In the meantime, we love every day weāve got.
Ahhh, thatās so sweet. Young couple in love but really, reflecting, getting away is important and your relationship needs to be fed that way.
lol@young.
We get around, Michele. In 2024 we were in BogotĆ” (three times), MedellĆn, Cartagena, Bucaramanga (twice), Guatemala City, Antigua, Comox, Courtenay, Nanaimo, Parksville, Victoria, Toronto (twice), Bellingham WA, and probably a few other places I have forgotten.
Travel isnāt an itch I need scratched these days. I have done a lot of it and, while it hasnāt gotten old, like anything you do a lot of, it has gotten less exciting. I think weāve got a nice balance of stability at home and adventure abroad going on.
What I canāt do right now is take off for a year or five like I did in 2016. Thereās too much going on at home for that. Weāre down to taking trips for a month or two (at most) and then returning home. Itās enough. Iām content.
We might piss off to Montréal in January so Isa can experience -40°C. lol.
I get it. You have business.
If we sell our home, my next home will be on wheels or float.
FIDE needs Magnus far more than Magnus needs FIDE. They just had the silliest WCC tournament in history and, while it was exciting, it was still a joke and the guy who won is not even close to being the best chess player in the world. Now they kick Magnus out because they donāt like his clothes? Seriously? If Magnus wants to play nude, let him play nude.
