This is totally right. Magnus implies in his statement that he has more proof but needs Niemann’s permission to talk. That’s unconvincing. That said, Magnus has the support of several other GMs so maybe there’s something here.
magnus has a very lucrative deal with chess.com; its more than very likely that hans niemann has cheated in hundreds of games there and that chess. com has shared this proof with magnus
He also needs to shave but I don’t know anything of his eating habits.
He stated he had more to say. Why does he need Neumann’s permission?
That doesn’t even make sense. Why would chess. com share anything with Magnus? If they have something., why wouldn’t they use it to suspend Neumann from the game or ban him all together? Do you think they found the beads and are conspiring together to publicly humiliate Neumann?
I don’t think he would say he needs permission if he doesn’t but he should expand on it if he knows something factual.
lol this is starting to make more sense now:
2 weeks before hans outplayed and beat magnus at that sinquefield cup tourney… magnus played hans @miami beach for fun and crushed him easily
I find Hikaru irritating but I have to admit, that was pretty interesting and telling. Vishy scores 56 and Hans scores multiple games at 100? This isn’t real.
Here is the full game that started the whole cheating meltdown. Honestly, it strikes me as totally unremarkable. Many solid, well thought out moves, but no incredible omg moves or move combinations played. I couldn’t recognize chess cheating if it hit me in the head, though.
not much news in this report besides chess.com confirming that hans niemann cheated a bit more than he confessed, that dozens of other gm accounts were also closed and that 4 top 100 fide players admitted to cheating:
“Chess.com’s online cheating-detection system is well known. In our 15+ year history, it has been used to close the accounts of many non-professional online players, hundreds of titled players, dozens of GMs. It
has elicited cheating confessions from 4 players in the FIDE top 100.”
Doesn’t seem they have any evidence about in-person play.
in our view there is a lack of concrete statistical evidence that he cheated in his game
with Magnus or in any other over-the-board (“OTB”)—i.e., in-person—games.
