Seems self driving cars have a long way to go.
As usual, Japan dominated and Germany did horrible. Out of 24 makes, Mercedes benz and Volkswagen came in 24th and 22nd.
Iām surprised. I thought Mercedesā was more reliable than that. They are first in automotive technology.
They have too many computers. Thatās probably part of the reliability issue. Iām guessing most of their owners take poor care of their car. It doesnāt really matter since theyāll get a new car every 3 years.
Volkswagen has no excuse. Other than someone had to come in 22nd.
Their reliability issue is in their over abundance of computers? I donāt understand. How does one ātake careā of a bunch of computer sensors and why do you say they wi get a new car every 3 years?
I agree and, imo, no car qualifies to come in last place more than VW.
Haters. lol. My VW has been very reliable. I realize that doesnāt mean anything statistically, but Iāve been happy. I am starting to dislike driving, anyway. Itās a necessary evil in Canada, though.
EDIT: I admit, I am really liking the look of the new Toyota Crown. I donāt think Iāll do anything about it but weāll see.
MB makes good engines, but some of their cars have over a hundred computers in them. They are working on an electric car that has 350 sensors at the moment. Too much tech for reliability.
Owners will just get a new one every 3 years, so you can see they got a new car. It could also be mostly used MBs since their original owners probably took horrible care of them.
62% of MB owners donāt keep the car 5 years.

Probably true, but there is no way to get to fully automated driving without hundreds of sensors.

True for many Benz owners but there are a bunch of people like me (the other 38%) who have owned several Benzes over the years and who generally keep their cars a long time. Guys like me are screwed. I shudder to think of how much those sensors will cost to fix.
I donāt want another luxury car, anyway. I have owned many. I want something safe and comfy. Cool if possible, but thatās optional.
The more I think about it, Toyota makes sense for me, although none of their cars move me much. Even the Toyota Crown I posted above only rates a ānice carā from me, not āomg I have to have thatā. It flunks the cool factor test but again, thatās optional.
The Chevy Malibu rental I had in Toronto was ok but I didnāt find it comfortable entering or exiting. Thatās a big enough deal to me that I probably wouldnāt buy it. It also flunks the cool factor test.
Really, I just like my CC and plan to keep it. I kinda like that Michele hates it. lol.
EDIT: This is the electric replacement for my CC, due out in 2024. Itās called the ID.Aero.
EDIT2: This is the big electric SUV they have coming out, the ID.7.
EDIT3: This is the electric Chevy Blazer due out this year. I actually paid $100 to get on the waiting list for it, but Iām not sure Iāll close the deal when it arrives. I just have no need for it.
I do think Volkswagen has nice designs. I saw an ID 4 in the parking lot yesterday. Iām guessing they are fun to drive. Theyāll have to improve a few things for me to ever buy one.
Iām giving benz a hard time. I would say Iād buy one over a bmw, but I wouldnāt buy either.
Iām driving my mother in lawās equinox. Nothing remarkable. Quite boring. The cup holder is probably the worst part of it. I never would have bought it. Iād give it 4/10. 5 is average.
Toyota is starting to become less boring. Even the prius and rav4 seem less boring.
Yeah, they rank up there with your last boring post.

The proliferation of electric vehicles, they said, would be detrimental to Wyoming and the "ability for the country to efficiently engage in commerce."
Wyoming makes up 0.17% of the usa population.
How clever Republicans are. They should phase out smart phones, too, to protect bicycle couriers.
Honda 2023 accord hybrid has less power than the last. It doesnāt have AWD option. You canāt fit in the back seat. It is SIGNIFICANTLY more expensive than the camry in Canada. It gets worse mpg than the sonata. Fail.
The thing with hybrids and EVs these days is that you can introduce anything, no matter how bad, and people will buy it just to avoid the 2 year wait for anything good.
Who says people are going to get something good in two years? The cost is too high and it takes too long for a charge. The whole thing is completely overrated. I once drove a Tesla belonging to one of my Airbnberās. The only thing I was impressed with was the big screen between the seats.
I will be the last person on earth to buy an EV!!! @TikTokNews45
Is something good coming in 2 years? Are you talking about your blazer?

No, I just mean the waiting time for most highly rated EVs is very long. The Kia EV6, most Toyota EVs, etc., are all around two years here. Waiting time for Teslas is down if you like those. People are buying badly-rated EVs like the Mazda MX-30 just because they can get them, whereas the waiting time for the cars most people want is still ridiculously long.

Funny, I just saw one of these at work today. Dark grey, dark interior. I have to admit, it looked great. Very similar in presence to my CC. Big swoopy sedan. I have to admit, I liked it.
