I did this 6 years ago. Not that I’m wealthy. New Hampshire is looking better.
I get this totally for family people but you don’t have kids so I’m surprised you wouldn’t accept a smaller place in the big city. Most double-income-no-kids people prefer the big city, at least here.
The average rental property in Boston is $3800/month for an 800 square foot apartment. That’s less than half the size of my house and $1200/month more than my house. I also have a 2 car garage in bad winters. I don’t think anyone I work with could afford to live in Boston. I wouldn’t live there, unless I worked there and ditched my car. Once you get 20 miles outside of Boston, Massachusetts and New Hampshire are the same, except for real estate prices. So, we moved 10 miles north and saved $100000. Now, NH is getting more expensive with everyone following us. I’d imagine Massachusetts will lose another US representative soon and NH will gain one.

Makes sense. I dislike houses so I am prejudiced but your math adds up totally. Most people prefer houses so I’m the oddball here.
Probably a good move considering so many are moving out.
I have not thought that through but on the surface, it sounds like a good idea. The problem is car commuters and this should help discourage that.
Vancouver makes it difficult to drive downtown and park all day, so people don’t do that. It’s far better. Now, if you have an appointment downtown, you can easily find cheap street parking for an hour or two, but if you’re coming in from Richmond to work downtown and you want to park all day, you’re screwed so take transit.
It works. Our traffic really isn’t that bad.

Trump was trying to close the border. Biden isn’t closing anything. Not really. And Biden will cut veterans off to feed illegal visitors. Are you okay with that? Will would roll over in his grave if he knew what Biden was doing. I would also note that this could have happened years ago and that is what makes me bitter against this party. Biden and his administration cabinet make out like they are fixing the problem at the border but just about anyone can plainly see that is not happening. It’s pretty clear to me that was never the goal. I am grateful for every effort but the bar hasn’t been set very high.
Will responded to every criticism of Biden with “At least he’s not Trump”. Will would be celebrating Trump’s conviction and possible prison sentence, as I am.
In fairness, those little Palestinian children could have provoked her with death to America chants. In reality, she was probably stalking that entire family for hours before approaching them, which would probably be normal in any American city.
My deductible for blood work was $58.44. That was news to me. My employer was smart to not tell the 3500 of us working here. I called my insurance company and they gave me the scoop. I had no idea why my physical and bloodwork weren’t covered. I guess they’ve been getting lots of calls.
This year I’ll pay $1,626 to Medicare and $2,141 to harvard pilgrim, which is what I use. For a combined $3,767/year. My employer pays $9044 to Harvard pilgrim per year. So they get $11185. I have a $58.44 deductible for blood work. It was for a cbc, metabolic profile and lipid profile. The guy from harvard pilgrim blamed my employer for not covering employee’s bloodwork anymore. I didn’t even know they did before. This is the first time I’ve ever paid for bloodwork. Imagine that. Harvard Pilgrim got over $11000 from us and not only did they not cover routine bloodwork which can save in the long run, they blamed my employer. At least the rep told me why I have a bill now.
I’ll look at a stub from last year tomorrow. It is probable that my employer cheaped out and I now have crappy insurance, but shame on harvard pilgrim for offering a plan that doesn’t include bloodwork.
I pay $0/mo and my deductible is $0. I have never paid money to a doctor or lab in Canada. I have no private health insurance plan. You really need a new system.
