That actually doesn’t look like a very impressive force against the Russian Army. Hopefully it will not matter. It would be insanity for the west to engage Russia over this. We are closer to a world war than at any other point in my life and it is critical we don’t escalate things.
Scary times are already here. The thing that strikes me is that, so far, Russia is losing. Putin is already escalating. A massive 60km convoy now approaches Kyiv. If that doesn’t work, isn’t it fairly obvious nukes are next?
The priorities of the world’s news organizations are interesting. RT is down, presumably hacked. All the others have Ukraine as the top story, except for the USA which has book bans and the Aussie PM getting covid as the top stories.
They are failing to meet their military objectives, have taken no towns outside Donbass, and are meeting vastly stronger resistance than they expected.
The west is now making a targeted, concerted and incredibly powerful effort to collapse the Russian economy. I remain unconvinced that Putin will go without firing off a few nukes. The west seems prepared for this, or at least willing to accept that price.
“We will provoke the collapse of the Russian economy,” French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire
i think its all just bluff poker / a game of risk… putin will go on until he manages to get some big cities (preferably kiev) and then he can trade it in for some more land in the east of ukrain
both parties will be content and there will be peace again… or at least for a while
I Just read an article on facebook (yes I know) that said Switzerland just broke it’s neutrality clause and has frozen Putin’s assets and they are siding with the Ukrainians.
Maybe. I just wonder if this is going to empower China even more. I don’t think anyone on the planet would be surprised if we saw a Chinese military buildup around Taiwan in the coming weeks.

During the Arab-Israeli war, the U.S. went to high alert as a way of warning the U.S.S.R. not to intervene. However, while this was in effect, mechanics at the Kinchole Air Force Base in Michigan “accidentally activated the whole base alarm system.” Pilots and crew all ran out to their B-52 bombers, ready to take off, when the duty officer realized it was a false alarm, and called them all back, before any further damage was done.
