What a surprise! Nico doesn’t understand go-bags. I don’t know why but I will explain, knowing full well that I would have similar results by talking to the concrete pillar holding up this side of my highrise apartment. And the pillar would likely (actually certainly) be brighter and less irritating than most Dutch people.
Go-bags are not just for disasters. They are not only for the apocalypse. We have several go-bags. Two are just backpacks we keep always ready to go. We have used these several times for unplanned short trips, and occasionally for planned trips. My approach is simple: if it works for a three-day trip to Toronto, it will work for an unplanned 3 day problem where I can’t get home.
We also have several radio go-bags, one of which we keep in the car most days. This has a couple of handheld VHF/UHF radios that we can use to communicate with each other (Isa and I are both licensed amateur radio operators). These have been a godsend many times. No apocalypse needed. We go somewhere and unexpectedly need to be apart, but we’d like to still communicate and cell service is spotty or we’d just rather use radios because they’re more immediate. Of course, this also means that, if the apocalypse comes, we will be able to do the same thing and communicate without cell phones.
I also have my man-purse which is a go-bag on its own. I carry it most places. It has basic first aid necessities, a satellite communicator (a tiny Garmin Inreach Mini) which works anywhere on the face of the Earth including Antarctica, a VHF/UHF radio, extra power, a spare cell phone, some basic drugs including antibiotics, a Swiss Army knife, some cash, and a toothbrush and enough toiletries to last a few days. How many times has that thing saved my ass? More times than I can count.
Now, being Dutch, dense and difficult, I expect you to note that none of these things will survive the multi-year or permanent apocalypse shown in TV shows like the Last of Us. That is absolutely true, but it is also irrelevant. Short 1, 2 or 3 day problems are far more likely to occur than true apocalypses, and I’m preparing for those. If the true apocalypse comes, I will at least get a few day head start on others before I run out of power and supplies, not that I’m likely to survive such an event anyway.

I may not know for certain, Reg, but I have a pretty good idea from what I’m reading. If the donation to Trump was from Jho or if it was an illegal donation, there would be an investigation and a leak.
