Regarding the supreme court, I don’t know how it could ever be expanded. Who decides who gets to add 2? The current president? Yeah. That wont work. The next president? That won’t work. Keep it to 9, but try to keep the rapists out.

OJ wasn’t convicted of murder, Michael Jackson wasn’t convicted of child molesting, and Donald Trump wasn’t convicted of fraud. None of those facts suggests innocence.

I’m assuming you are referring to Brett Kavanaugh and Clarence Thomas. Of course, we all watched Kavanaugh’s hearing but I only remember seeing clips of the Thomas hearing. I was pretty young and uninterested in politics at that point.
They have been given a higher authority to judge between people and the most important moral issues. They are moral representatives of the Law.
If they have committed a crime, it would be better to answer for it in this life than the next. If they don’t, their judgment will be extreme and harsh. I don’t pity them.
It’s more than about them. Their decisions affect others. Those people don’t care what happens to them in the afterlife.

I’m not disputing this. I think we can all agree that they absolutely should be using their God-given wisdom.
While I’m not convinced Kavanaugh is guilty of any crime at all, he has sided with liberals more than once since his confirmation. Because he carried himself as a morally upright conservative he is expected to make conservative decisions or it reflects on him as deceptive. I don’t like these liberal choices he has been making but if he doesn’t care about the afterlife, consequences matter not and the fault falls on the Appointee for lack of better judgment in choosing a righteous Justice.
If that were true, we wouldn’t be having this conversation. Even the very discussion of their right to be confirmed wouldn’t matter to me.
I watched the trailer and a clip of the hearing which refreshed my memory that the charge was harassment because he was attracted to her and wanted her to go out with him. He should have used better judgment but, Lord, haven’t we all made mistakes.
You are right. He shouldn’t have. His behavior was unacceptable.
It should be acknowledged, that while he was guilty of harassment, at least as far as I know, Thomas has demonstrated exceptionally upright and strong, conservative behavior throughout his entire life as a Justice. He has also been incredibly quiet throughout his service as a Justice.
If ring leader Joe Biden had acknowledged the truth of Hill’s compelling testimony instead of busying himself sniffing the hair of strangers, Thomas might not have been confirmed. They are all in bed together so it’s no surprise Thomas was found not guilty and confirmed.

Thomas has certainly been quiet. I heard that when he was on the court with Scalia, Thomas did not ask a single question. Quite robotic indeed since Anita.
I like anita hill. She’s 63. Would have though she’d be older by now. Clarence is 71. I would imagine he wont live a long life. Sedentary lifestyle and he is black so he has some things working against him there.
This is so wrong. It is up to all judges to make lawful decisions whether they are conservative or liberal. If a judge believes one side is right, they need to take that side.

Good point. I do remember that. Still, it was only one sound bite in a very long confirmation. I still don’t think the race card won it for him. I just think back then there was much more tolerance for bad behaviour. I also wish we had clear rules about what is disqualifying and what isn’t. I dislike Thomas but even I remember thinking at the time that, even if he was totally guilty of telling these rude jokes, who cares? Again, I may have the details wrong. It has been a very long time.
