The Historicity of Jesus

It is evidence.

Do not confuse evidence with proof.

Each of us is free to weigh the evidence. I have weighed that evidence and concluded that it does not convince me.

My bad. The German meaning for evidence differs from the English term. Which is very tricky, as when I asked ChatGPT for the adequate English term for the German word „“Evidenz“, it replied solely with „evidence“.

This was the summary by ChatGPT when I asked if there is any difference in the meaning of both terms:

„Key Differences:
Connotation:
Evidence (English) is more neutral and flexible—it can refer to information or material that supports or disproves a claim, without implying that something is necessarily obvious or indisputable.
Evidenz (German) carries a stronger implication of clarity or something being self-evident or beyond dispute.
Use in Context:
In English, evidence doesn’t imply that the information is beyond doubt—it’s something that helps build a case.
In German, Evidenz suggests a level of certainty or obviousness that usually doesn’t require further proof.„

Indeed, and yet you justify discriminatory laws and actions solely because of just Faith.

What discriminatory laws and actions? Why do you naturally obey the law, not having the written law within yourself?

The latest was Israel’s illegal settlements in the West Bank.

Calling it illegal doesn’t make it so. You didn’t answer my question.

That was my answer to your question.

The West Bank doesn‘t belong to Israel. Therefore every country in the world considers those settlements rightly as illegal. Why do you consider it as legal? Because your Faith says so?

Because the Word tells me that just as God brought calamity on Israel, He will bring prosperity on them. That He would bring them back to the land and to enlarge their dwelling places. Yes, faith tells me it will happen. Israel is much bigger than the land they currently own and they aren’t “taking” anything from anyone that God isn’t giving them.

I will surely gather them from all the lands where I banish them in my furious anger and great wrath; I will bring them back to this place and let them live in safety. - Jeramiah 32:37 NIV

The days are coming,’ declares the LORD, ‘when I will bring my people Israel and Judah back from captivity and restore them to the land I gave their ancestors to possess,’ says the LORD.-Jeramiah 30:3

Enlarge your house; build an addition. Spread out your home, and spare no expense! Isaiah 54:2 NIV

Interesting, and yes, that explains the confusion.

I am not against faith. I have faith. I just don’t choose to believe in a sky fairy. I have faith as follows, without evidence or proof:

  • The human race will never advance significantly until it treats itself as a complete and holistic entity, with all parts having value.

  • The human race must look after its own. This means free medical care for everyone. And free education. We must provide a safety net for our weakest. If you can’t work, society must support you decently.

  • Power should never be concentrated in the hands of just a few people. Yes, this means less will get done, as no visionary leader will be able to lead us to new heights, but we accept that because no visionary Trumpist lunatic can lead us to destruction.

  • Normal people living normal lives should be able to live decently in their own homes, transport themselves, feed themselves and entertain themselves. Cavemen achieved this. We have somehow squandered it with our dysfunctional current system.

There is nothing supporting any of this. Neither evidence nor proof. If anything, the evidence is on the other side, indicating that we could advance more quickly if we just let our weak die. I still think we’re not worth a damn if we do so. It is a matter of faith to me.

I better do not respond and rather surf the net for some fun stuff to laugh instead. Cause people like you don‘t make this world a better place.

Too late, Karen.

Plenty of jokes if you look long enough.

You’re right. I can’t possibly make this world a better place for people like you who insist on making it a hateful place.

Holistic?

That’s straight up bs, Reg. You would take great pleasure in seeing 95% of the world die and you would like to choose the 5% worthy to breath the same air you breath.

More bs. You just stated the other day that we put our lives in the hands of the wealthy because it’s only the wealthy who are qualified to lead the masses.

I agree. Your system is dysfunctional.

Yes, holistic. Look it up if you don’t know what the word means.

Untrue. I might have said something like 95% of people do nothing of particular value, which is true, but I don’t wish death upon them.

This is just totally wrong. I think almost all wealthy people are there through luck and baseless popularity, and through the dysfunctional and artificial economic system we have created and now live under.

I know what it means. A holistic method of healthcare would be free from vaccines and I know you’re not against vaccines so pardon my ignorance. I just don’t understand how you can claim to have a preference for both methods of healthcare. Unless you meant only holistic to a point.

Apparently you don’t know what holistic means. It just means treating something as a whole, rather than as individual pieces. A holistic approach to health treats the whole body, rather than treating an individual piece. An anorexic with diabetes needs consider the WHOLE picture, not just the anorexia or the diabetes individually, in order to form a treatment plan. A holistic approach to health care would consider everything from wait times to outcomes to the cleanliness of the facilities. And it would almost certainly find vaccination a net positive.

A holistic approach to humanity treats humanity as a whole. All of it, including its weakest and strongest members, need to be considered only in the context of the entirety of humanity.

PS: I am in favour of Republicans not getting vaccines. Democrats should get them, though.

Jesus, I didn‘t call you a stupid arsehole as I actually wanted for supporting the replacement of people only because your disgusting Faith tells you so, but I am the hateful one here. To call you a stupid arsehole for this rather qualifies as a fact than as a mere insult.

I see. Somehow, I thought it meant applying things produced naturally to one’s life.
