“International human rights law clearly spells out that decisions about your body are yours alone – this is what is known as bodily autonomy. The right to make autonomous decisions about one’s reproductive life is known as reproductive autonomy.”
I don‘t think it‘s just the right of the woman. To me it‘s also a matter of the father but also a general matter of society. Basically my only reason why I support abortion is, that I see more harm done if there is no right to abortion. If women are desperate, they will try alternatives. And the reasons for being desperate can be many, be it the father doesn‘t want the baby, lack of money, lack of support by the grandparents or even fear for their reactions, fear of being not able to finish school, losing the job etc.
In either case (pro or con), the state needs to empower the pregnant woman’s position to enable her getting the baby regarding money, work, housing, food, pension etc. Oh sure you can put the blame on her and if you aren‘t a total idiot equally also on the father, but this isn‘t helping in any way to prevent people from having sex and from saying no to the baby and what comes with that responsibility.
So my question is not so much if someone is pro or against, but if each voters (and the state) is willing to help to make babies and their (often single raising) mothers welcomed and financially supported (not necessarily by social welfare but for building up the needed social and financial structure as well as work conditions. If that‘s the case, then I would support an abortion ban, only excepted for cases of rape and life threatening conditions for the mother. If anyone those voters, regardless if pro or con, is against putting up the needed support, then this person is nothing but a hypocrite or to be more precise - an arsehole.
A few days ago I accidentally watched a video about Trump, where he - if that video is true - shrugged off the death of a woman who suffered from a rare complication after having taken the anti-babypill, because the doctors weren‘t legally allowed to operate her.
then i think you are dead wrong and iam very happy its not up to you or religious nuts (or at least not in civilised countries)
yes the father, the parents, the family, everyone on this planet should take care of eachother, yes i would like for nobody to have an abortion and all kids should grow up in a loving environment where they are provided for, but unfortunately thats not the reality of how things work on this planet (and most likely never will)…
if others, besides the one that carries the embryo inside their body, would have any say about an abortion or not? that is just asking for outrageous injustice
No, the last say should have the woman. As I said, I am for the right to abortion. But I can also imagine how a father would feel, if he would like to have it but the mother not. Therefore, yes, it matters also to him. But you can‘t compel a woman to give birth if she doesn‘t want to, as there are alternatives, legally or illegally, to abort the baby and sometimes also hurting herself in the process.
That‘s why I think the last say must have the woman. Here I am 100% with you. I just wonder why not making it mandatory for all involved (at least for the „parents“), to attend a neutral institution before the decision is made by the woman.
And again, regardless if someone is pro or contra abortion, if the will isn‘t there to empower the woman to deliver and or raise the baby, then any law to forbid abortion is hypocritical and wrong.
Really?!? That’s interesting. How should she choose what to do next if they are at an impasse?
Planned Parenthood is or was the main source for a woman’s reproductive health in America. They may have shutdown their clinics since Roe was overturned.
Any law that forbids murder but protects abortion rights is hypocritical and wrong. Anyone who falls for that nonsense to justify their actions is lacking moral integrity.
hypocritical is a funny word to be used by religious people; they call it killing and not murdering and then it can be done as many times as they want, all in the name of their god
their bible also states that abortion is the will of their god if you perform the ritual described in numbers 5:11-31…
Michele, this time I stopped reading after your first question. I refuse to answer to ignorant questions by you from now on. If you are too stupid to read properly, then I don‘t mind you to die stupid.
This is true not just for killing. They even vote for the worst sinners according to their own book like Trump. They even buy from such scum their silly Holy Books. Which makes it pretty round and even logical in a wicked sense.
I’m sorry, Nico but I couldn’t find anything about abortion or murder in the Scripture you posted but thank you for posting it anyway. It was an excellent reminder of an inability to experience guilt before the law was handed down but with a consequences we are unable to overcome apart from forgiveness. It is obviously no longer necessary to keep performing that ritual with the birth of Christ, His death on the Cross and Resurrection on the third day. That ritual demonstrates the work of Christ in us to experience guilt that leads to repentance.
Do you think it’s fair to say that you didn’t play well with others as a child? Someone once told me there are no ignorant questions. Only ignorant answers. Thanks you for participation as I didn’t really want to go deeper with you anyway.
“this will be the result: When she is made to drink the water that brings a curse and causes bitter suffering, it will enter her, her abdomen will swell and her womb will miscarry, and she will become a curse.”
uh huh, by “miscarry” they obviously meant she took out her uturus herself, carried it and placed it somewhere it shouldnt be, what a silly mistake by that woman…
You are translating thigh to mean miscarry? That would imply thigh means sexual organ and that is just not true. In Hebrew, thigh yârêk, meaning,
thigh, side, loin, base
a. thigh
outside of thigh (where sword was worn)
loins (as the seat of procreative power)
b. side (flank) (of object)
c. base
From an unused root meaning to be soft ; the thigh (from its fleshy softness); by euphemism the generative parts ; figuratively a shank, flank, side: - X body, loins, shaft, side, thigh.
It means to remove any chance for fertility in an unfaithful woman. How awful for a woman to bear severe punishment with no way to redeem herself.
The NIV is the only translation that gives the meaning you refer to.
Took out her uterus herself? That makes as much sense as flying pink elephants. What a silly translation.
i didnt translate anything, thats the version i read… and in quite a few versions it gives the same meaning i refer to:
yes yet still it makes more sense than believing that drinking a bitter potion will affect your thighs and that removes your fertility instead of calling it what it is; an abortion in the name of your god
