Reg did you show Isa? Do you think it would make a good paper…communal living vs. predatory and aggressive instinct?
I hadn’t but I did just now. She said the three on the lower right are Dermaptera. She can’t tell the others but says if you send a better photo she might be able to identify them.
There is a better photo if you scroll up a few posts.
Anyways, something changed the genetics of the spider population I had around here. And some of the crickets.
No other pests. I have plenty of rabbits, chipmunks and squirrels but very few critters. No mice either. Or snakes.
You probably will get flies and mosquitoes. If you do shop for electric flyswatters this is probably the best there is out there. You can find plenty of comparison videos that vary in the mesh or “strings” of the racket design. There are usb chargeable this one runs on 2 AAA and I do own one. I believe it was manufactured in the UK. It has the best killing and pop of review models and this is scary powerful and creates superloud pops of mosquitoes and flies. Sometimes they live because only a skinny leg touches but they often die of a heart attack within in a minute. Usually they die, stick, and burn on the racket…
The Executioner. Buy this one. Check the reviews
I also bought 3 screw in bug zapper light bulbs. Things to knowL they cant screw into all light fixtures, some are bigger and bulkier and lead more space to screw into sockets they can seat into well. Some just have the UV light and the electric killing rods. Some have the light and a light bulb at the bottom which is very bright and you can turn the switch off and on 2 times to make it just bug zapping with the faint UV or bugzapping with the UV and a the regular light of the half bulb at the bottom which is the same light distribution of a standard bulb. They come with a plastic cage that does not allow in large mosquitoes or small fingers either. It does kill tons of smaller insects. You can easily cut the some of the plastic ribs with a cutting plier to let in mosquitoes but beware you can also stick your finger in too. Most of the cages can open or unscrew slightly and if you do dont rip out the wires. They comes with a brush as well to wipe off the insects. Supposedly the UV was also sanitizing right?
If you have arguments a lot try plugging this in somewhere outside the house or garage and turn leave it on. Irritation seems to lessen and even disappear.
animal abuse!
Haha!
I have a gopher problem. I think it is just one. I don’t care too much about my yard, other than the soil below the hot tub. I think the conduit is too deep for him to go after. If he would even try to chew it. I also have hawks, moles, chipmunks, squirrels and other critters. I have a few options. Do nothing. Do a castor oil thing around the hot tub and throw it in the mounds. Or poison it. It sounds like an awful death. It’s an option. My wife is surprised I’m considering it but she eats meat so that is much worse than poisoning 1 gopher.
Eating meat is far worse than killing a gopher. I would care about how painful the death is. Much kinder to shoot it but I assume discharging firearms in your yard is frowned upon even in the US.
I will probably go the castor oil route. It was in the neighbor’s yard today.
Do gophers hate castor oil or something?
I would think any living thing would.
Actually, they like it but it upsets their stomach. I guess they realize that and move on.
So you’re saying they’re smarter than most people in the western world who just keep on eating things that upset their stomach.
Get a gasser if it’s legal.
I did some screen repairs on one screen with the gorilla clear tape. Too bad I had to do this by myself. I was in a rush and soaked one of my books. The screen was dry but some water still at the bottom from hosing it. I needed a backing. Tape is very clear just like glass. I was messy and if somebody needs prints there they are. This can supposedly seal boat hulls.
I don’t want to remove the screen frames because they are old. If I do remove them it will be to replace everything because they will be difficult to firmly set in place after pulling them out due to the tiny springs.
Gas those gophers ASAP. My father let them live until they fit closer to the house, but by that time they were already digging under it. I had rabbits before too and we got them to dig away. I might take time to dig up a gopher tunnel network just to show you how much they dig.
They can put your house under the soil on one side if not just that jacuzzi.
I think the gopher is gone.
Did you castor oil it? Or it just went on its own?
It just left. Good amount of mounds in the yard. 5 maybe.
