She hated blade runner 2049. I thought it was great. After that she realized she shouldn’t ask me to watch frozen 2 or hallmark.

It’s true. I dislike sitting in front of a screen watching moving pictures of people pretending to be other people. Not just movies, either. I dislike TV just as much. I don’t know what it is.
I don’t hate 100% of movies and TV. Just maybe 99%. I enjoy some scifi. I really liked the Battlestar Galactica reboot of the early 2000s. I liked some Star Trek, especially DS9. I don’t hate Picard so far. I can’t say I enjoyed Joker but I did enjoy the message (“kill the rich, literally, like actually dead”), especially as it was ironically delivered by a (presumably rich) famous actor. Still, despite a few exceptions, I’ll generally take watching some Dutch girl ride her motorcycle around South America on Youtube for a few dollars a day over any multi-million-dollar blockbuster.
YouTube is great. It’s really improved the last 5 years.
Absolutely. I pay them $13/mo to get rid of ads. Improves the experience significantly.
I’m thinking of doing that. I listen to it for an hour a day.

I found those affected playback in many cases. In any case, paying Google also gets me three other important features: background playing (which I use endlessly), downloading for playing offline (which I use on every flight and almost every night with audiobooks), and Youtube Music (their Spotify alternative).
I have a YouTube and Google account but I don’t pay for Google services.

Indeed. My Google bill is a couple of hundred a month. It’s some of the best money I spend. I get tremendous benefit from it and it is an excellent value, especially compared to competitive services. I also get the entertainment value of laughing at dummies who refuse to pay for anything Google on principle and thereby do not reap the benefits of their services.

I pay Google to host almost all my websites these days, having moved away from Wordpress. They host my email/docs/calendar (GSuite) for 5 companies (and BBAD, although nobody has used BBAD email for years). I also pay them to host my woman’s website and email/docs/calendar, since her company doesn’t make much. I pay them for unlimited photo storage and that backs up my Flickr and also stores all the photos I take that I don’t want published. YouTube is just one thing they do for me, and that only costs $13 CAD per month (about $10 USD).

The only things I have a subscription to are netflix and Amazon prime which I use constantly like a good American.
