Is this the part where you flip your fork over your shoulder in defeat?

No, I never take anything you say seriously.

Roosevelt did everything to provoke the Japanese and the Germans in order to make them attacking the USA first. The economic warfare by the US against Japan served this goal very well.

The USA was just as imperialistic as the Brits and other succesful imperialistic country. The reasons for the US to enter the war were similar to those of Nazi-Germany regarding getting a bigger cut from the world resources and becoming as big for being safe for good.

You can’t understand how WW2 started without ignoring the whole puzzle instead of just picking the ones you like and that’s exactly what Will does. Germany felt - just like before WW1 - threatened by France, the Brits and Russia. That it got the solely guilt for WW1, the immense money and repression due to the Treaty of Versailles, the landloss especially to Poland as well as the supression of the Germans even in areas where they hold the majority, like in Danzig, added to the support of Hitler when he finally attacked Czechoslovakia and afterwards Poland. Funny thing is, Poland wanted somf piece as well from the Czechs and offered Hitler to help him. The Russians at the other side agreed with Hitler to share Poland. The Brits just feared a stronger Germany and rather wanted to keep it small and weak to not get a competitor for it’s empire. The only reason for every Western and Eastern Ally was more economical and political power.

I don’t defend Hitler for the most part of his doings. But I also refuse to bite into the lie of his opponents about a ā€œjustā€ war or that only Hitler/Germany was responsible for WW2.

And don’t worry about Will. He just was drunk last night, which is likely his normal condition.

Well gosh, Gunda. Are you telling me the world would have still gone to war even if the Holocaust hadn’t taken place?

Good because I think you’re a joke too.

Given that England and the US both declared war on Germany long before the death camps started operating, I think that’s fairly clear.

They declared war on Germany before he started killing? Why? What were they doing that caused the whole world to sit up and take notice of this little country?

It’s been almost 40 years. I honestly don’t remember anything about it but I’m certain I was taught that we were pulled into the war through Pearl Harbor and that the Holocaust was the great cause of it all. I know that probably irritates you all lol. Sorry.

That question is one in heavy dispute. The topic is one of great controversy. It is dangerous to even discuss it. Best to just go along with the generally accepted version of events.

This is largely true insofar as why the US went to war with Japan. Japan was at war in Asia. Roosevelt made it clear to Japan that, if they invaded China and the Philippines, the US would go to war with Japan. Japan had a conciliatory government at the time and they asked for a meeting with Roosevelt to try to resolve this impasse. They offered to stop all attacks in China in exchange for the US and UK staying out of it. Roosevelt refused and demanded that Japan fully withdraw from China, the conciliatory government of Japan collapsed and the new hardcore government attacked the US claiming the US was going to war with Japan anyway. Why the US went to war with Germany at the same time is a controversial topic as mentioned above.

Impossible. The Pearl Harbor attack (and the subsequent US declaration of war) occurred over a year before the first death camp started operating.

Really? Because according to this website, the killings started 6 months before we were drawn in.

You know, it’s disturbing to think that it took the entire world 4 years to stop the killings.

Some killings occurred before, sure. The Holocaust began far later.

From Wikipedia: The plans to exterminate all the Jews of Europe were formalized at the Wannsee Conference, held at an SS guesthouse near Berlin,[25] on 20 January 1942.

Treblinka started operating on 23 July 1942.

The US declared war on Germany on December 11, 1941.

This whole topic is extremely dangerous and is illegal to discuss in my country so I might drop out soon.

Illegal?

OI’m having a problem.

Last night I did an apple update and now ever time I post something, I’m bumped up the page and have to scroll back down.

It’s weird because this last post bumped me and then took me back to the post.

This is a much safer topic. I dislike Apple products. Steve Jobs was a dick from what I’ve read.

Your loss! I love my phone. I’ve tried android but it’s hard to change when you get comfortable with the phone you started with.

I agree with that, and since I’m comfortable with Android I don’t want to change either. They’re all just tools, anyway. Tools for us to do things with and for the government to watch us with.

I knew it was a dangerous topic in Germany but are you talking about Columbia or Canada? How can it be illegal to discuss history?

Germany implemented the persecution in stages. Following Adolf Hitler’s appointment as Chancellor on 30 January 1933, the regime built a network of concentration camps in Germany for political opponents and those deemed ā€œundesirableā€, starting with Dachau on 22 March 1933.[6] After the passing of the Enabling Act on 24 March,[7] which gave Hitler plenary powers, the government began isolating Jews from civil society, which included a boycott of Jewish businesses in April 1933, and enacting the Nuremberg Laws in September 1935. On 9–10 November 1938, eight months after Germany annexed Austria, Jewish businesses and other buildings were ransacked, smashed or set on fire throughout Germany and Austria during what became known as Kristallnacht (the ā€œNight of Broken Glassā€). After Germany invaded Poland in September 1939, triggering World War II, the regime set up ghettos to segregate Jews from the rest of the population. Eventually thousands of camps and other detention sites were established across German-occupied Europe.

Maybe Gunda would like to give an opinion on the holocaust.
