I took a course on AIDS along with other topics like codependency.
I remember a multiple choice question about what AIDS was. I chose a scientific acronym for a disease discovered in the 80’s as best of the four answers.
I was marked wrong. The correct answer was a social/behavioral disease.
Now that seems correct to me. It also seems so is diabetes for this fellow.
When I was very young I took swimming lessons and earned progressive certifications. I learned how to help rescued drowning victims by expelling water and CPR. I also learned emergency jump and life jacket use.
What comes to mind is what never to do with a panicked person in the water. Never swim out to them. Use a pole at least 10 feet or throw a float with a rope.
Reggie has that look like he is drowning or underwater when it’s just his glasses whether he is wearing them or not. It’s his diabetic desperation he will throw himself on you and put you under. That’s isolation even in a relationship. There is infinite distance no matter how close.
Diabetes is a behavioral disease and it affects the mind. No doubt Will was a diabetic.
