Canada was the better team, but USA has the best goalie in the world. He went to my Alma Mater. Iâm probably 15 years older. UMass Lowell was excellent when he was there. They are awful at hockey now. Congrats to USA! First gold in 46 years in menâs hockey. I assume this is Crosbyâs last olympics. Iâll be able to root for Canada once he retires.
Those medals look pretty spread out. None of the countries were really pathetic, except maybe Poland. Canada won menâs curling. It doesnât seem to require much athleticism, but I do consider it a sport. Moreso than figure skating which requires a ridiculous amount of athleticism.

McDavid does not seem to be able to win a big game. Best player in the world for the last several years, but not when it counts. Costly turnover by Canadaâs best defenseman (who also scored their only goal).
Did Russia get booted out because of all their doping or is it politics? I think China dopes just as much as Russia.

If the USA bought a Chinese citizen and they won medal, I wouldnât care in a positive way. If anything, Iâd want the $7,000,000.
We had a stretch in the 2000s and 2010s where we were totally dominant in hockey, both men and women. Those days are gone and will likely never return. Other countries are getting better and our pool of young white men is dwindling. Non-whites clearly donât play hockey as well as whites. That isnât a racist observation. I donât say they âcanâtâ play as well, but they donât. They have other interests â soccer, basketball, even cricket, whatever. Hockey itself is in decline in Canada, with youth participation about 30% lower than peak. Itâs time to let other things define us.
