Good Sports Day

Djokovic beat Federer. Barely. I didnt watch it. I’m guessing it was one of the best matches of all time for a Wimbledon final. Of course, I would root for Federer. Djokovic could probably now claim the 2nd best player of all time. He’s probably passed nadal. Definite favorite at us open. Federer might figure his 20 grand slam title record is not safe. Djokovic now has 16, I think. Not sure how many more Federer will get.

I like Djokovic because everyone hates him. Hate may be too much but almost everyone prefers Federer or Nadal. I don’t care enough to watch though.

Nadal is soooooo boring.

Sifan Hassan of the Netherlands just broke the record for the woman’s mile. 4:12.33. She broke it by 0.23 seconds. She is Ethiopian as well.

I like Djokovic, too. He’s funny. He seems to have calmed down on the court. Probably my 2nd favorite male player. His game is fun, too. He has to be considered one of the most underrated athletes of all time. Apparently, he has a gluten sensitivity. I figure that would have been a problem for someone that burns 5000 calories a day. He lost a lot of weight when he initially changed his diet. He must pound a TON of meat now. He really doesn’t look skinny anymore. Or maybe he just had to get used to his new body.

Federer has been the best player of all time for a while now. If Djokovic catches him, his career is going to be over, at that point. Kind of too bad. At the very least, he will go down as the greatest returner of all time.

Pernell Whitaker died yesterday. He was hit by a car. So far it appears from obliviance he stepped right in front of the car as a pedestrian.

Apparently, he could have been the best boxer of all time if it was not for drugs. The Mickey mantle of boxing.

Amazingly, he was 55. Time flies.

Djokovic speaks English, Serbian, French, Spanish, German, Arabic, Japanese, Italian, Russian, Chinese, Portuguese.

Nadal speaks Spanish.

Djokovic is also hilarious. I don’t get why people don’t like him. Maybe because they love Federer.

Very impressive. I was never very good at other languages. I can speak english and sailor.

Yes. I bet you can speak auto mechanic.

A little bit. Cars have changed so much with all the technology added to them these days I let my mechanic do the talking for me. I am lucky to have found an experienced mechanic who is honest and fair priced. I still putter around on the small projects.

Lots of computers. I will probably have to take my next car to the dealer for service. That would be a first.

My friend’s dad is a mechanic. He just bought an alignment machine for 35000 dollars. Hes 65 and has cancer. I would have sold the business. I guess you can go to regular mechanic for alignments for a long time. Independent mechanics I would imagine will get more expensive with more people going to dealers.

A 19 year old just broke Michael Phelps’ 200m butterfly by 0.7 seconds, which is quite a bit. With 2 bad turns.

I wondered how long before Phelps’ records started to fall. This is quite soon.

Best swimming call of all time.

I would have sold out too. Go fishing. Anytime I went to a dealer for service I got screwed. Too expensive and many of their mechanics are fresh out of mechanics school.

You have no choice these days. Most of the imports are now refusing to sell parts and tools to independent garages. Back when I was in business in Canada I had a problem with my Benz and I had it towed to my local garage only to have them tell me they couldn’t touch it because Benz wouldn’t sell them the parts so I had to have it re-towed to the Benz dealer who proceeded to screw me of course.

Edit: A guy I know in the transmission business in Vancouver tells me that all the imports are doing that now. Refusing to sell parts and tools to local garages.

I notice we only talk about soccer and solo sports in this topic. Which I like. And cars.

Audi looks like it will be Tesla’s biggest competitor this year. Or Volkswagen I suppose it really is. I have not looked at the e tron because Audi’s are expensive. I would imagine their electric cars are very expensive.

I keep a VW Passat CC in Vancouver although I am probably going to sell it if I keep spending most of my time in South America. I love it. I bought it specifically because dealer service is cheap. I remember the first time I took it in, they said it needed a bunch of stuff done to it and I thought, “Oh hell, here it comes.” The total bill was $300. You can’t get an oil change on a Benz for that. I should probably block out my plate number but I don’t give a rip.

Egan Bernal is poised to win the Tour de France. Colombia is going nuts.
