German music

I’ve been from Tucson to Tucumcari
Tehachapi to Tonapah
Driven every kind of rig that’s ever been made
Driven the back roads so I wouldn’t get weighed
And if you give me weed, whites and wine
And you show me a sign
I’ll be willin’, to be movin’

I love that song. I think migrating must be especially hard for farmers, as they are woven with their own land due to working with and living from it. Bound to it through generations.

The whole concert tour got postponed till somewhen in 2022 due to the actual Covid surge.

But I doubt he would have played this wonderful hommage to Antje anyway. I think I haven‘t heard a song by him with a softer voice. Soulfood. I will post the lyrics translated by Google:

Antje is in her snack bar in the village on the B 10
Adds paper napkins and wipes the counter
The door opens and closes, people are coming. People go
This has always been the case since the Big Bang
Antje always wanted to travel, Antje wanted to go far
From the plates into the world and yet it always stayed
It just hangs in its small, gray place
Where she loves people and people love her
And every trucker who rolls into their parking lot hungry
Hat, Antje, Antje, Antje has a heart made of gold
Antje, Antje, Antje has a heart made of gold
Antje knows all films, every great novel
Antje knows them all, their thirsty faces
Antje is smart and wise and Antje writes to
For the loaded, the secret drinkers and poets
Antje has a dog that doesn’t bite and doesn’t bark
You can wait with the serenity of a dog
Who recognized. gravity rules the world
And that sooner or later something tasty and round
Rolls from some plate to the floor for him
Antje, Antje, Antje has a heart made of gold
Antje, Antje, Antje has a heart made of gold
Antje is not afraid of anything, Antje has courage
She knows your secret and keeps it well
She knows your grief, she knows how it is
When you are done with the world and completely on the ground
Then she has an elixir of survival for you
A meal, a shoulder, and a quarter
And is raised a deep in your soul
There’s a rainbow over Antje’s snack bar!
Antje leans against the grill and laughs with her cherry-red mouth
The familiar neon sign shines over her door
Antje is always there, Antje is always open and
The small room is jam-packed like an emergency room
For all this calls for refreshment for body and soul
For consolation and advice. after fries and meatballs
And when your ship of life sways in heavy weather
She’ll straighten it up and save you from the rapids
Antje sees when a tear rolls into your french fries
Antje, Antje, Antje has a heart made of gold
Antje, Antje, Antje has a heart made of gold
Antje, Antje, Antje has a heart made of gold

I always disliked the interpretation by the creator of this song due to Wader’s voice and pronouncation. Despite the great lyrics. But this version I love. Her voice, her piano play - a good song to start one’s sunday.

A sad song, as it‘s about dying. But he manages even here to make me smile and feel at peace.

English lyrics

The time of the juggler is over, his beauty faded away,
silenced the lute that the musician still holds in his hands.
The table is orphaned, the glasses are empty, the feast is over, there is nothing left but
to depart; it is said that the fool saddens when the curtain falls.
And the feast, which we think is endless, has, like everything, its end.
No words,No Tears; everything comes as it must.
The fire, almost burned down, paints flickering shadows on the wall.
Already the morning stands before the window, still blind from the hot breath.
The head and tongue of wine are heavy, no more noise and Jokes.
Now the silence moves into the house, where we have been happy.
And the feast, which we think is endless, has, like everything, its end.
No words,No Tears; everything comes as it must.
Farewell, farewell is made, the time of the juggler is accomplished.
Think of me without bitterness when I lay down my Instrument now.
Have done many things wrong, certainly. If You can forget, forget.
Then tomorrow I will be no more than a stone on your way.
And the feast, which we think is endless, has, like everything, its end.
No words,No Tears; everything comes as it must.
No words,No Tears; everything comes as it must.

From the end of one’s life to the beginning. Well, not really, as this song is about his teenage years and his first love.

the omg variant hunted me down and killed me

I didn‘t watch the military farewell on tv for Angie, as I don‘t think high of her (not that I think higher of any of her predecessors except Helmut Schmidt), but I like her a tiny bit more since I read just 3 minutes ago, that one of her music choices was the only song I like by that insane „singer“ Nina Hagen. „Du hast den Farbfilm vergessen“. An angry song about her (fictional) boyfriend Micha, when she realized while on vacation, that he forgot to pack in the colour film for the camera. Oh Mann.:rofl::rofl::rofl:

I first post the original from 1974 and below the version from the Zapfenstreich.

God, everyone managed not to laugh. It‘s so surreal, that this silly song is played by the military and everyone stays serious. Which alone is a reason to laugh.

Oh - nice choice. „Für mich soll´s rote Rosen regnen“ (Red roses shall rain for me“). At the end (not in this video, though), she really gives a red rose to that officer beside her, awwww😂).

I found the time to look for the English lyrics of Knef‘s song, as I like the lyrics pretty much.

At sixteen

At sixteen I silently said

I want

I want to be big

Want to win

Want to be happy

Never lie

At sixteen

At sixteen I silently said

I want

I want everything

Or nothing

It should rain red roses for me

All wonders should encounter me

The world should rearrange itself

And keep its worries to itself

And later

Later, I still said

I would like

To understand

To see a lot

To experience

To keep

And later

And later I still said

I wouldn’t like

To be alone

But still be free

It should rain red roses for me

All wonders should encounter me

Happiness should behave in such a way

It should manage my destiny with love

And today

Today I silently say

I was suppose to

Conform

Make do

Oh, I can’t conform

I can’t make do

I always want to win too

I want everything

Everything or nothing

It should rain red roses for me

New wonders should encounter me

The world should rearrange itself

And that what’s expected

The best kept

Red roses should rain for me

All wonders should encounter me

The world should rearrange itself

And keep its worries to itself

I want

I love this sad song by Bourani. It reminds me on my vacation in New Zealand. Where I went to alone with my backpack and my then still boy friend brought me to the airport while I knew already I need that vacation to find distance to be able to end the relationship. I both enjoyed and hated that trip. I enjoyed it regarding the feeling of freedom. And I enjoyed to have the time and muse to watch other people and learn of their motives to travel alone. I was amazed to see that many alone traveling women did that trip out of similar reasons I did. One Japanese girl really seem to have bad problems, though. She never or barely left the hostel in Auckland, where I stayed the first whole week. Anyway, the moments I hated traveling alone was always on beautiful spots, as I wanted those moments to share with a close friend or my parents.

I much prefer the homosexual football song he did.

Only a homophobe would refer to that song as being homosexual. Every sane one would see it as what it is. A song about joy and love. Regardless which sexual orientation, race or gender.

Oh mist, it was homosexual soft porn. I quite liked it.
