At some point, you have to convince a girl to go out with you. To pretend there is great meaning in the word “convince” is foolish semantics. What is convincing to one…
Yes, actually, at least partially. You shape and strengthen a relationship by being confident, reliable, successful, honest, decent, kind and various other desirable traits. All of these things make a man convincing.
You don’t need to read, Gunda. Look, with your own eyes. When someone is jumping, the vast majority of people just walk or drive by without stopping. That is a simple, incontrovertible fact. And that’s all I do. It’s silly to call that extreme when almost everyone does it.
I agree, but I don’t do that. I don’t care if others “help”. I would call it meddling but I will accept your word “help” for the purposes of debate. I won’t stop. I won’t intervene at all. I consider it every adult’s right to die at any point they choose and for any reason they may have. Others may meddle as much as they want. I won’t bother them, either.
I thought you are into the research business. Can‘t be that reliable if you can‘t come up with a propper one to support your claim. And of course, also on that bridge I witnessed, the cars kept driving while the police tried to save that suicide candidate. I don‘t know how Canada deals with it, but in Germany you get fined for gawking. Even if an accident occurred on the Autobahn and first aiders (other drivers) already stopped, then no one else needs to stop there as well anymore as they just would block the road. They can rely on that those first aiders already called the ambulance.
Exactly. Which means not just that you also are extreme but lack a sane amount of empathy. A sane normal person would help and if it‘s only by calling the police if one is alone.
I didn‘t expect DB Woodside, this huge guy, to be that sensitive. I watched this video by a visitor of Magic Convention in Bonn from 2019. When all were asked to name one imperfection of one of the other casts, DB warned already before starting, that he tries not to get too emotional. But he wonderfully failed when talking about Tom Ellis. I already have seen talking him a bit emotional and very fond of him in a different interview about his last scene on Lucifer which was with Ellis. I love it when men are sensitive. That‘s neither weak nor non-manly to me. He starts at minute 47.
I also was surprised to hear that Leslie Ann Brandt originally is from South Africa.
Are you going to attack the source, now? Just remember, the source is you.
Again, you really just use words you do not appear to understand. It is normal to do the things most people do. It is abnormal to do the things only a few people do. This is simple English, but it is not an English issue. It’s the same in German or any other language. You just don’t understand these basic words.
Gosh, Reggie, lol. I explained you why the other drivers didn‘t stop. Because the police was already on the spot. They not just wouldn‘t be of zero use if they stopped but even got fined for gawking.
What you mix up is, that for most people it‘s normal to help (of course only when there is not yet any aid/help there ). Abnormal are the ones which categorically say not to help anyone from committing suicide, as you admitted.
I don’t know what each driver was thinking, but I can tell you this for sure: Those drivers all have seen the police was there. Why should then anyone of them still try to help if the police is already doing that job? That was just a rhetorical question, silly. And now keep on justifying why it is “normal” not to help if you come across a jumper (when no police or any other person is there but you idiot).
Obviously they shouldn’t, Gunda, but you also have absolutely no idea if they would have stopped if the police had not been there. You are wildly speculating with no evidence. My experience has been that people do not stop in such cases, neither in cars nor on foot. The overwhelming majority of people just walk on by, even if no police are on site.
lol perhaps you should pick a specific scenario: its a smaller road with a nice bridge and no other people are around
you see this figure standing on that bridge and they appear to be climbing on the rails to jump off…
i think most if not all people will go towards that to investigate/help/or at least see if they have anything valuable on them lol, but what will you do?
You are both obviously dead wrong, which is not unusual. My own anecdotal observations have been that almost nobody interferes. ChatGPT also notes:
Public Intervention in Suicide
A 2007 study in Crisis: The Journal of Crisis Intervention and Suicide Prevention looked at public suicide attempts and found that many bystanders do not intervene unless the suicidal person is actively engaging with them or others.
Police and first responder reports: Anecdotal evidence from police officers and first responders suggests that people often ignore or walk by someone exhibiting suicidal behavior, sometimes out of fear, indifference, or not recognizing the severity of the situation.
High-profile suicides: In cases like the Golden Gate Bridge suicides, many reports indicate that people often pass by or don’t intervene when they see someone contemplating suicide.
Subway incidents: In cities like New York, where suicides on subway tracks are relatively common, witnesses frequently report seeing people ignore someone standing on the edge of the platform. Studies suggest this inaction may be due to both uncertainty about the person’s intent and the fast-paced, anonymous nature of urban environments.
