Ok. I might if it’s still there. He’s done.
I hope he‘s really done. And his soon-to-be ex-wife too.
I haven’t had the the time yet to watch it fully, but I will post it here for that I easily find and don’t forget it. If it’s also less about her work but more about herself and her long fight with her unknown chronic illness. But also how viewers with similar problems like her famous tv character (like tall girls/women), were positively influenced by her.
I was surprised to hear she is an introvert. But I was also surprised to hear that about Tom Ellis (if he also only said, that his mother is of the opinion, that he is an introvert turned extrovert). I really think theatre should be a subject offered in school. Just like manners and social activity for society/animals.
I love Miranda Hart. From all I read and watched yet, she appears to be tremendously sympathisch, sensible and full of empathy. I didn‘t know how cruel the practice to „tame“ elephants was. I don‘t have a word for that other than horrible. Mankind is the worst creature on earth.
No clue why this video was suggested to me, but hey, thats a great one. I just wish, such guys would be the norm in real life and the law would give them all a free pass.
Childish cliché. This guy would lose his job and possibly face charges for uttering threats.
True. But I uttered wishful thinking and thought I was pretty clear about that.
I support his losing his job. I don’t want to live in a vigilante police state. I don’t know what these punks did but I assume it was bad. These days a complaint to the authorities would have them kicked out of school. There’s no need to let vigilante policemen threaten to “cut their dicks off”. And speaking of that stupid, childish, schoolyard, cliché 1970s threat, for God’s sake, can’t the writers be more creative than that?
Interesting. Didn‘t you once show support for a father who killed the drug addicted boyfriend of his daughter, because you agreed with the dads opinion that guy was responsible? Or that Russian soldiers killed in cold blood captured and already unarmed pirates? Your definition of „creative“ obviously is pretty subjective.
I support any parent who punishes some bully. Many children commit suicide because of such assholes. If that’s not creative enough for you, then I won’t lose sleep over that.
Definitely. In both cases, the system had failed and the criminals were about to go free. In the case of the father who killed his daughter’s rapist, as I recall that was right after the rapist being freed due to a technicality. The father found an elegant solution to that technical problem. In the case of Somali pirates, the Americans were catching them and then releasing them back on shore because they had no place to hold them. The Russians elegantly dealt with that storage issue.
In this case (your chest-thumping clip), there is no such lack of accountability. The girl could complain to the school and the bullies would be punished. In 2025, that is the case throughout the western world. There is no need for this chest-thumping. If that wasn’t the case, I’d be all for vigilante justice, but it’s just not needed here.
Speaking of elegance, my objection to the cliché wording had nothing to do with whether I thought action should be taken. I just think that if you’re going to commit (or even threaten) murder, it’s good to be creative about it.
This is an example of excellent creativity in murdering a child abuser.
I wholly disagree with your assessment of how effective Western societies deal with bullying. Letting the parents of the victims doing that job, is way more just, faster and cheaper. Just like our ridiculous justice system, it takes a lot till anyone really gets a punishment and most of those punishments are neither just, nor have they sustainable effects. A bully who got beaten up by some victims father, likely won‘t harass that kid again. And it cost society nothing.
Just read following comment by someone who watched Miranda Hart on Bear Grylls, where she wasn‘t able to do simple tasks due to her fears (but also physically):
„I watched Miranda on Bear Grills not long ago and I remember her saying she wished she could be more fearless, and it struck me because, actually, writing and starring in a comedy sitcom and to play the type of character that Miranda is, especially being a woman, is one of the most fearless things in the world. I admire her deeply.“
I 100% agree. I easily could have done those tasks, blind folded. But I never ever would dare to do what she does in her profession.
besides making it a society that is more accepting of violence and therefore making it less safe and more stupid
Exactly the opposite.
how so?
ok lets do the math how i see it:
at the start there was 1 kid getting bullied (maybe violent, maybe not so lets say thats half a violent person)
instead of letting the school deal with this, the dad beats up the bully (thats 1.5 violent persons) which makes other kids in the school think its ok to do since a grownup also does it (+100) and this will probably make the family of the bully respond as well (+10) and then ofcourse the family of the victim again (+10) which results in… a lot more violent people than before
I dislike agreeing with Nico but this is exactly right. Sometimes violence is the only solution to a problem. I know Nico disagrees with that but let’s set that aside for a moment. In cases where there are credible non-violent solutions, it is absolutely necessary that these be explored. If not, we live in a thug state where only the strongest and most violent survive.
that applies to all cases
I will never judge anyone negatively (rather the opposite) or even help to punish, who protects his family, especially his children, from getting bullied. I applaud them. The system is way too mild and hence ineffective to protect the vulnerable and physically weakest.
you do not protect anyone by attacking another
when you decide to become the monster you dislike, you dont create a better human or a beter world, you produce another monster and a worse world
