But that fun ends at that moment, that person wants the rights which comes with that biological gender. Not becsuse I find female toillets etc. nicer than the male ones, but because out of safety reasons. And that’s all I will say to that matter regarding her.

She is very tortured, and clearly wishes she was a man, but she knows she is a woman and can never be a real man. Her lyrics make that clear.

interesting: to me the opposite is clear; yes the song is about his identity struggle but to me these lyrics describe his reaction to how this possible lover perceives him (as “another woman”) and not who they really are and what they could be (his boyfriend)

Why this song wasn’t a hit, is beyond me. It’s perfect. Not a note I would want to change. Nor the lyrics. And the video matches perfect to the song. An artistic masterpiece and one of my all time favourite songs.
