I pay Youtube $13/mo and see no ads. Actually $26/mo (one for me, one for Isa).
I am not a greedy or stingy person but I certainly won’t pay anyone for mere stopping advertisements. I just wonder why they only have those scams shown. I doubt they get money from them but maybe they do and think money doesn‘t stink.

As I’ve often said, you don’t know me at all, so what you wrote is true. 
I consider it stupid to waste time and energy to save $13/mo when the benefits are so great. Downloading videos for offline playing with a single click. Whenever I fly, I spend a few minutes in the airport clicking “Download” on a few dozen videos which I then watch during the flight. Background playing of videos, even on phones. Full access to Youtube Music. And of course, no ads. Yes, I could achieve all of those things with a bit of work. My work is worth more than $13/mo.

This is very telling, and informs me where you are on the IT spectrum. Only the lowest end people would waste time beating a problem that can be solved with $13/mo. It’s not such a fuss to click away the ads and I am also not spending that much time a day on YouTube, for that I find it‘s worth to pay money for such a minor inconvenient thing. Ads are also not just displayed on YouTube but also on Spotify etc. I know for what I rather spend my money.
