We don’t “poison and destroy everyone and everything around us” any more than any other animal. Bears destroy the salmon around them. 10 to 20 salmon a day are killed by each bear. Beavers eat trees (bark and twigs). Rabbits eat grass and other plants. This universe is designed (or just came about) in such a way that we all survive only by killing something else, be it other animals or plants or algae or plankton or whatever. We must all kill to survive. It is an ugly place, really.
