He is my favourite current US politician.

They can read whatever books they want in their offices and homes and churches.

That’s great!

Then what source for guidance should lawmakers follow?

Lame answer.

Lawmakers already are not supporting the ten commandments. Many of them are pro capital punishment. Many of them have no problem killing a neighbor for walking to the wrong house. Enough of them cheat on their spouses. Many of them have no problem with having a rapist President. They are hypocrites.

Do you think infidelity should be punishable? It is as far as money can go, but I’m talking about prison time.

I think it is ridiculous to put murder and infidelity together in the commandments. No wonder so many ignore the 5th commandment. They have to read 5 more afterwards.

And why would they since they’ve never been convicted for their crimes?

That’s harsh. You must be a hypocrite.

I think nobody ever wants to be punished for any sin but would you be okay with your wife’s infidelity?

No, but that would be better than if she killed someone.

How am I a hypocrite?

I would have thought the point of the ten commandments was to prevent these actions. Not punish for them. At least nowadays. If that’s not the case, then the ten commandments are useless since they are not used in law and order. They might be useful for the specific individual following them, but not as a society.

People that need these commandments to live by and cannot figure out which actions are moral or immoral, are immoral to me. I suppose if they lost their religion, they’d no longer go by some advice written on slabs thousands of years ago and have to use their heart. If they are unable to do that, that’s a dangerous person to me.

Would you be alright with murder if there were no ten commandments?

The Law of Moses could not do what it needed to do.

That’s why Christ died for us, to fulfill what the law and commandments couldn’t. It only succeeds in showing you you’re wrong but it doesn’t convict you inwardly.

Without them, you wouldn’t know the difference but for kicks and giggles. What do you consider immoral?

Oh, the moral issue must be at play here with infidelity being moral while murder is immoral.

I just thought you were speaking from experience.

I think most people would agree that neither infidelity or murder is a good thing, but that murder is worse.

Good question. That might take a bit to answer.

Would you be able to know that murder is immoral without reading the ten commandments?

Without the Law, would you know it’s immoral to sleep with your sister?

I think so. That was not always immoral. It was necessary to keep certain tribes alive. Probably still is in the Amazon.

Would you be able to know that murder is immoral without reading the ten commandments?

What nonsense.
