In China, Tesla uses Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries (the best). These have no cobalt and do not contribute to child mining in the Congo.
In the US, Tesla uses Lithium Ion, Nickel-Cobalt-Manganese and Nickel-Cobalt-Aluminum batteries, all of which have cobalt and contribute to child mining in the Congo.
Teslas built in the US are inferior to Teslas built in China in almost every way. They are built by US labour to much lower quality levels (I posted that link before but can repost it if you wish) and they use inferior batteries which require cobalt.
Many. Mostly the Congolese government, but China is a big player. Michele, I am under no delusions that the Chinese are not oppressive and exploitative, much more so than Americans. I just note that on the one point of battery production, your criticism isnât valid.
Honda is screwed, anyway. They currently sell 0.6% battery EVs. They let the ship sail without them, and now theyâre never going to catch up. I am tempted to sell Honda and Nissan short. Perhaps Toyota, too.
Since your nothing without radios and your two manufacturers are Chinese and Japanese you often try to pit these groups against each other and objectify them for radio function, which you donât have by yourself.

Lithium batteries create toxic fires. They burn for days with all measures to stop them. They please massive amounts of pollution. People protested a battery storage facility and were just ignored. Sure enough a fire in on of the trailer containment units. It was hard to believe how much atmosphere it choked off and how it just kept burning so hot and so long.
