Cars

I’m hearing the brake lights don’t work like they should on EVs when they are regen braking. That is a serious issue.

It’s interesting to me that you’re only interesting at what initial price you will have to pay to purchase an EV, which is disappointing because the price is much higher than that. The most obvious being the shortage of charging stations.

If that’s not enough for you, there’s more if your ears can take it.
Those batteries emit 15 tones of CO2 which is equivalent to driving one gas car for 8 years. If 1 in 4 cars on the road were EV’s that would be equivalent to adding 1 million homes to the grid. That may be a load you can handle in the unpolluted north but us lowly southerners don’t have the resources to carry it. Also, I would mention that Tesla requires 15 kilograms of lithium for its battery but it takes 500,000 gallons of water to mine a tonne of lithium and 20% of cobalt is mined using child labor. Do you have children?

That’s a lot of typing. I didn’t say I’d get an EV, nor did I promote them. That’s the only thing I’m interested in? The initial price? You didn’t see my quote about regen braking?

I have no idea what my next car will be. New, used, ev, ice. I don’t know.

My car just hit 188000. Other than rust, it runs fine. Rust is mostly unavoidable in New England.

I wasn’t accusing you of a claim that you were going to make a purchase. I was simply observing your comment which was mostly about the initial cost and I did see your regenerative brakes but I’ve never heard of it nor do I believe that is the biggest problem with electric vehicles. To me, it’s about the precious natural resources they use.

My car has 200,000 km on it (about 125k miles). It’s perfect. Like totally perfect. It also looks better to my eyes than any modern vehicle. I’m keeping it until I can’t.

I’m not sure I’d ever get a GM car. The vehicle seems weak and not great mpg. It has 3 cylinder engine. Made in South Korea, so probably not affected by UAW strike.

Mid 20s mpg
Horsepower 137
Torque 162
Price: 21000 to 25000 usd

Americans are buying them due to affordability.

I actually like the look, which I never do with GM.

Hahaha! I could critique this car until Rapture but in a nutshell, this car is gutless. It has a V3 in it. Mostly used for two-stroke engines. Not sure I understand how it is comparable to a V6. I’ll ask my dad. I like the interior red and blue trim though. I prefer red but blue gives off a calming effect. Unfortunately, it’s also neither car nor truck. Disappointing. Long and detailed video.

I just posted in the China thread how China is now the world’s #1 auto exporter. Now this. VW may be facing death. It’s just having no success anywhere.

some asshole in an attic somewhere raising a glass each time his RSS tells him another enemy( who never even heard of reggie) has died.
how does that make me a bitter old man?
oh i see…
reggie also makes cars

They are also probably still trying to recover from the almost $40 billion damage in fines, refits and legal costs their previous CEO cost them. VW is just in a higher class of cars. The problem is that in this economy no one can afford it. Chinese cars are simply too cheap to compete with. People will pay the cheaper price, even knowing how poorly built they are.

I agree with everything you just wrote, Michele, except the “poorly built” part. Chinese cars are becoming good. Remember, people used to think of Japanese cars as cheap crap.

More on this.

Apparently, you’ve never bought anything made in China. You have to buy two of everything to get what you need from the product because more than likely one will malfunction before you’re finished using it. China creates nothing but garbage and while you might buy their trash, I would never spend my hard earned money on a Chinese car knowing it will break down on the Highway and leave me stranded.

I’ve bought a million things from China. I’m a regular AliExpress and Temu user.

This is simply untrue. Most high quality US and European products are made there.

i think that is impossible if you live in america

You deceive yourself.

and it takes all his time
if he’s dying shouldn’t he be playing solitaire or donkey kong?
ever helpful

Is he dying, Weirdo?
