But instead I was forced to use this
And this:
Did this get ugly and intimidating. You bet. Did I get satisfaction. You bet.
But instead I was forced to use this
I never thought I’d say this but I envy you the ability to go do yard work right now. lol.
Curfew is so boring.
We had our roof redone and the crew that did was so careless that they flipped the lawnmower over and all the oil leaked into the engine and the fuel tanka nd carburetor. That and it being out in the lemenets with just a trash can lid over it and the 1000 pincer bugs that made a breeding nest there. So it looked okay after some cleanign but wouldn’t start and it took a damn lot of arm and connective to the body to pul that string handle. New spark plug and it would start for a while and then just die. I thought it was water in the fuel lines and low quality old gas, which it was but then it just started with the prime push button. If it starts and runs and then dies with just the prime it had to be the carburetor and lines.
Or ther governor arm, but this is a briggs & stratton but I did have to take care with that delicate throttle linkage.
I didn’t realize how greasy this was and I regret not having some gunk engine cleaner but wd-40 and gasoline and a toothbrush and hose and air compressor attachemnt worked fine. It got to look messy and I was having doubts. Then I had to stop all my work due to the rains coming back ( It has been raining almost every day for 3 weeks now. I was going to buy a whole new gasket kit but then they sell a whole new carburetor and gasket kit with air filter for under 20 bucks. I was just real careful and didn’t buy anything other than new oil and a spark plug!
But I was tired from doing other stuff and this and like I said before this kind of work kills fitness gains and vice versa.
So some ugly blade sharpening I did with a file (I couldn’t even find my angle grinder but I am going to have to do it again or just buy a new balde, and I will prbably buy a new balde as I like this mower very much now instead of despising it. And when I say tired and need rest I know what I am talking about. If i remove and sharpen blade like with all that energy soaked up by it, it is like having an arm served at the shoulder joint. Great weight loss and that is what I got.
No I don’t own a car.
No loss. Cars are a pain.
Sadly I don’t sem to have a pic of the little oil residue in the cavity just under the carburetor that I suspected was the problem causing the cut off. But that was it as well as several other contributing factors.
The carb still sealed nicely despite some pitting on the base metal .and I didnt remove that middle screen and pop that nozzle out, it would have torn and of course it would have ran and probably caused another clog. I was abkle to clean it just fine without doing that. Next time I buy anything I am bying the whole new carb filter and gasket package. I did not need any of those to get this running better than before.
Just a word of caution. I removed the blade by hand and I should have lodged a 2x4. Despite this engine being impossible to start and taking massive pull force to do so it starts with the slightest tug now. The engine could actually be started by turning the lawnmower blade . So disconnect the spark plug. I also did an oil change and I did it sloppil because while turnign the blade I forced some oil out and I just pumped it out rotating the shaft with the pull string. Now when I looked at the filter the first tiem I thought oh my good how dirty how oily. But actually the black tray loosk like it holds oil and the filter is meant to be soaked in oil so I did that and added the rest of that 6.4 ounce synthetic oil to the engine for a perfect top off.
And I love this oil, it is green and looks like caterpillar blood. When I was working a hummingbird with green head and breast even hovered near me when I popped it open.
Some finethrottleidlegovernorwhatever linkage adjustments and the fuel tank and delivery system were mounted again.
Finally followed up with lubricant spray to the stop/throttle lever and the stop/throttle line. This can bind up and seem to make no difference when you close the lever but with lots of wd-40 and lube application you will see it slink in and out again so much more freely.
It feels good having looked at this:
No I don’t have a car but man oh man did it feel good using that weed whacker and the push gas mower. Now things don’t seem so loud and overpowered. Cars and trucks boasting acceleration and horsepower seem under my foot. Even the loud motorcycles my hearing woukld pick up while the riders seemed so deaf and unaware of the power all seem so diminished.
That’s 3.5 horsepower to me. Show me what you have experienced comparable or what you think is.
I have a sun Joe power washer. Corded of course. And a snow joe corded. My lawnmower is cordless battery. I just figured I didn’t need much power to mow the lawn. I was right. I don’t know have to worry about clipping the chord. I have 2 batteries. I can usually get through the lawn barely off 1 full charge. 35 minutes or so. It drains quicker with self propel on.
Think I paid 109.
Nice color.
You know oddly enough when I first rotated the blades on the reel mower of that new sun joe every car starting within earshot had the same sound as those blades shearing against the flat cutting blade.
Talk about a not real issue.
No magneto though. I think most magneto starters are restricted to small engines.
I believe a car engine can run without a battery once started. In older cars at least. Ever done it?
