Cars

The world is passing me by. I like sedans and hate Hummers.

Sorry about your dicks Hummer owners.

I have to admit I’m slightly intrigued by the idea of a Hummer EV. Sort of like a vegan WWE champion.

I agree on sedans over hummers but I doubt anyone would actually buy a new gm sedan nowadays.

I don’t trust that security system. Supposedly it just triggers a section of a huge electromagnetic plate over the city when it gets activated.

Snob appeal.

Expensive is relative. What’s an expensive car? Over 40000? Some people only buy used so anything over 20000 seems like a lot. 26000 is the most I’ve bought a car for. It was 23000 with a trade in.

I was once behind a woman in Jaguar at a toll booth. When the car in front of her paid the toll she tailgated the car and got through before the gate came down. I think the toll was 50 cents.

My truck new was 23500 which was high in 1995. Blue book value is about $900 trade in now.

Yeah that is high for 95. Most manufacturers seemed pretty good in the 90s. Chrysler was certainly better than they are now. 26 years later. A thousand dollars a year. I’d say that was economical.

I don’t think mine will last 23 years lol. If it does, it will have 300000 miles at least.

I’m looking forward to one of you installing a dashcam.

That would involve me toddling my ass down to Best Buy which I need to do. I have to exchange a video cable that I didn’t need. At that time I will buy a camera and make the appointment to have it installed,. The clock is ticking on the refund so should be soon.

I won’t be doing it until I come back to Canada so at least a month and maybe three.

I’m rethinking the camera now. I’ve restrained myself several times lately from spending money. It’s always fun to by something for yourself but now I think I’d like to try to save up a little pile of money. Of course I could melt tonight and buy something shiny. lol

I agree totally with that. Toys get old fast.

BMW is redoing its logo. Old is on the left. New on the right.

I like it. Very simple. Very modern.

Perhaps it will improve their owners’ driving abilities.

lol. BMW is favoured by our Asian community in Vancouver, along with Benz. They are, um, shall we say, not known for their driving skills.

Edited to add: I’ve owned a bunch of them over the years, including a couple of beautiful convertibles. A 6-series was the first really nice car I ever owned many decades ago. They also make among the best motorcycles in the world imho. I love the marque, bad drivers notwithstanding.

Edited again to add: In considering convertibles, I have spent a lot of time sweating the Fiat Spider and the Nissan 370z, but I can get a super-clean used BMW Z4 for about the same money and I begin to think it’s madness not to do that. The 2009+ Z4 is simply gorgeous. The Ultimate Old-Man Putting-Around Machine. Pre 2009, I prefer the Nissan Z car.

Isn’t talking about cars more fun than politics?

Way more, although if the good guys were doing better, politics would be fun, too.
