Michele, we jump on planes to travel long distances. Or we drive for medium distances. Or if the weather is bad. I think you may be overthinking this.
No Iām not. Why are they installing black lights in big cities?
Iām not aware of any black lights being installed.
EDIT: I googled. This is why.
Thatās such a calming article. A comforting twist on the truth but I know better than to believe anything the media or journalists reports. Those are black lights and they install them to distinguish between who is and who isnāt marked.
iām having trouble understanding why anybody would care about these markings, or who has them.
perhaps they are insane in other ways.
that makes it easier to understand why they care about these marks.
Who is marked is not important at all. They will not be bothered. They are dead anyway. My concern is for those who arenāt marked because you and I both know that they will be stalked, taken out and then killed.
Honda is in the game.
Demand for lithium is expected to grow 20x by 2040.
I donāt think thatās true. Current expectations that Iām reading are that lithium will not be used in most future battery tech. Zinc, sodium and other alternatives are under heavy development.
Idk if itās true either. You canāt believe anything you read anymore so itās probably not.
Except on right wing telegram channels, apparently.
I bought a brown seat and hand grips for my bike. It will look very preppy. I will post photos when they arrive and I install them. If they look good, I might just get a trunk bag in brown. That might be too much, though. Weāll see.
Here it is with the new brown seat and grips. I think the trunk bag needs to be brown, too, now.
Edit: I just bought these bags on Amazon. Weāll see how they look.

Very nice and it all looks so new, Reg, but now your peddles and kickstand look a little used.
May I ask why, beyond building leg muscle, you need big saddle bags for your biking pleasure through Vancouver?
You may indeed ask, and itās a good question you ask. In my current bag, I keep:
- A bike lock for when we stop for coffee (or whatever).
- A bike tool and a conventional Leatherman multitool.
- Chain lube.
- Some disposable gloves for if my chain gets derailed, which happens now and then. It is very dirty work to fix it.
- A first aid kit. One day one of us is going to fall.
- An extra T-Shirt as I like to ride without a lot of layers and I often underestimate how cool it is.
- A rain poncho which I never use as I donāt ride in the rain.
- Wet Ones so I can wipe my hands (or whatever) if needed.
This leaves me enough room so that, if we stop at a coffee shop and buy lunch or a pastry or whatever, I have enough room to put the food in my trunk bag and ride to the park to eat it there if we feel like it.
PS: My pedals and kickstand are indeed heavily used. If they start to look ugly enough, I will replace them. Everything on a bike is inexpensive unless youāre stupid about buying brand names. This seat, suspension-post and hand-grip upgrade cost me under $200. The bags cost $110 or so. I love that about cycling.
PPS: I donāt ride very fast. I could probably average 20 km/h around town if I wanted, but Iām generally closer to 17 or 18. I got the bike up to 33 km/h the other day on University Drive, but thatās the fastest Iāve ever gone on a non-electric bike. Iām no threat to the Tour de France guys. I donāt care about a few extra pounds on a saddle bag.
Geez! Iām exhausted just reading all of that but anyway, thatās great. That seems like a lot of tools for a 2 hour ride Sunday ride through the park, which is sort of telling about your travel practices. I mean, you must be one of those people that has to have both iron and steamer for a weekend getaway. It amused me that you would lock your bike up when a thief would be completely satisfied just taking your bags lol. I also thought it was funny that you carry a first aid kit lol. Iām not the kind of person to laugh in the face of another persons pain but if you fall and itās caught on tape, I would laugh out loud and probably until rapture as that would be as entertaining as unrefined Biden.
The bags detach in 10 seconds or less. If the bikes are out of sight, we just bring them inside. Thereās nothing valuable in the bags, anyway.
lol. After all these years, you still donāt understand me at all.
Michele, at 58 and 50 respectively, Isa and I are about to leave in 72 hours for a week in Guatemala with nothing but our backpacks.
Somehow, I just knew you were going to share with me how, even though you pack a bike like youāre going on a week long ride, you travel light. Enjoy your trip!
Oh hush. Everyone carries a bike lock, the first aid kit is common sense, and everything else I listed fits into a bag perhaps 6" x 6" x 4". Thereās still tons of room left in the bag to carry things if needed.
