Bicycles & Scooters

The new look.

Nice, Reg. All it needs now is wings.

Just got them today. Took them for a ride tonight after charging them. They’re fun, they’re fast, they’re functional, but I like bicycles better. These things will be great for putting around downtown Van. We’ll keep them at the office and if we ever decide to go to Stanley Park for lunch, we can take the scooters. I’m happy to have them but I wouldn’t be surprised if they don’t get much use.

Random photo of an Apollo Air Pro from the Internet.

I agree. They’re ugly, plain and mostly useless and it doesn’t look that big to me either. It looks like there’s not even enough room to step on it with both feet. You probably won’t get much use while fasting to lose that over-inflated tire in the mid-section. Are you going to put cameras, mirrors on them? You should at least put mirrors on them so you can see yourself and how stylish you look cruising the sidewalks. Just don’t over charge it. :fire::comet::fire:

Funny, Isa and I talked last night about how these things need mirrors. I’ll definitely put mirrors on them, although I’m more interested in seeing cars behind than seeing myself in windows as I pass.

Tons of room for both feet.

You’re right. I never imagined you riding one of those things but it fits.

I never imagined me riding one of those things either. I doubt I will much, but I did last night and I enjoyed it. It’s not my style at all, though. I much prefer the bicycles.

I’m sure it was fun for you and you broke it in properly.

No doubt. If you park it and leave it alone and don’t ride it much you can pass to the next generation of riders. Of course, now that I think about it the next gen will probably be flying.

The current plan is to leave them at the office and use them to get around downtown Vancouver. My guess is that, after two years of not being used, we will sell them for a thousand less than we paid and never buy scooters again.

Paris is crazy.

They are prioritizing their time.

I just rode 30 km with Isa. That’s the longest single ride I think we’ve ever done. I really love cycling even though I am not good at it. We putt around at perhaps 18-20 km/h most of the time while the young kids whiz by at 25-30 km/h. lol. The city is turning red and yellow. Pretty time of year. The bicycle lanes are full of people. It’s just a nice vibe all around.

Rode in the rain today. Not far. About 10 km. I didn’t love it but it was exercise and we are trying not to get fat this winter.

Perhaps you should cycle during rush hour traffic.

I am quite excited. I just found a way to store a couple of bicycles at the office. I might buy this and a pair of bikes over winter to save money (I’m assuming there will be some good sales on bikes over winter) and get set up for spring. It’ll also give the office a cool, young vibe which it currently lacks. Isa and I are cool but not young. lol.

Edmonton just spent a ton on bike lanes. Given that it regularly hits -40° there in the winter, I’m not sure this is a sensible use of money.

EDIT: I was in Edmonton last year. It was looking good.

Bikes take away boundaries lol. coughbscough
Bikes create boundaries and if you don’t believe that. Try biking from Edmonton to Vancouver. What a wonderful new way of making people feel like they have more freedom while taking more freedom.

I don’t understand. How do bikes create boundaries?

if i was in edmonton
i would walk or crawl
wouldn’t need a destination or a bike
or thoughts about freedom or why they think the amount of it should vary
one foot in front of the other
so much for edmonton

Well…,I think it’s deliberate. In a world where the 80% rule will be encouraged or you will suffer shame for not participating in, they will create bicycle lanes so everyone in a heavily populated and polluted areas will turn to bicycling (to be a healthier version of themselves) and then be forced to foregoing traveling long distances because of limited carbon credits. Those that do will probably quit the trip halfway through if they start feeling discomfort or experience muscle spasms. A convenience for those who would like everyone to stay in place so they can determine who is who under black lights.
