Yes. Your economy will re-enter an inflationary cycle, no jobs will return to the US, consumers (and businesses) will go without, and then Trump will give up and reduce the tariffs while declaring victory and his moronic supporters will claim it was genius and he was playing 4d chess.

So basically, everything will stay exactly as it is.

I admit, people have tried to make him give up.

No. US inflation is now under control. I admit that re-entering an inflationary cycle isnā€™t the only possible outcome. You might enter recession.

Thanks for the heads up. Iā€™ll keep watch for those low interest rates.

Do you really think low interest rates will help you when the price of everything you import just went up by 25%?

Thatā€™s the normal procedure. Its protocol so that is what I would expect to see, regardless what it does.

Agreed. Trump will tariff everything or chicken out. If he tariffs everything, the US economy will slow down. The Fed will lower interest rates to try to speed it up. Then Trump will give up, lie about how he won, and his supporters will cheer in unison about how great their leader is.

So will the global economy and thatā€™s what really bothers you. Itā€™s not American economy. Iā€™ve paid attention to the things youā€™ve said about our economy. You couldnā€™t care any less about American economy. Itā€™s the effect it will have on world economies.

Some of what you wrote is true. I am definitely more concerned about the world economy than I am about the US economy. That said, I continue to hope the best for the US, if only for the sake of the sane people who voted against Trump.

That said, I am totally unconvinced that the Trump tariffs will affect the world much. In 2022, the United States imported approximately $3.96 trillion worth of goods and services. The global Gross Domestic Product (GDP) for the same year was about $101.56 trillion. Therefore, U.S. imports accounted for approximately 3.9% of the worldā€™s total economic output in 2022.

The rest of the world will almost certainly retaliate against the US, and will not tariff each other, so we will suddenly find alternate markets for our products. The last Trump tariffs didnā€™t harm the Canadian economy at all. I doubt the next ones will, either.

Youā€™re lying.

If you actually believe tariffs donā€™t hurt your economy or have an effect on global economies, why are you concerned about tariffs on Americans because you just said, ā€œI am definitely more concerned about the world economy than I am about the US economy.ā€

Take your thumb out of your mouth and get back over here.

You said earlier, tariffs will cause other countries to trade between each other, leaving Americans to strictly trade within our own country. Why would Trump do that?

Okay. I can see your done and Iā€™m certainly used to that.

I tried to be done. Having trouble sleeping.

I said they didnā€™t have ā€œmuchā€ effect. It harmed our steel and aluminum industries. We and other countries countered and harmed US industries. Trump relented quickly, not because he cares about the US but because the optics of him losing were so bad.

Because heā€™s stupid. And because he seeks simple solutions to complex problems.

Sorry to hear. Been there. Thatā€™s nothing a gummy canā€™t fix.

Iā€™m sorry for saying you were lying. I donā€™t think you are a liar but you always try to mask the issues with Canada with how pristine the sidewalk is but usually itā€™s with a twist of the knife into the heart if our country with your posts of our poorest and most unappealing areas of the country and thatā€™s fine but in truth, America is a big place and youā€™ve yet to share much of the true beauty within. People in America are moving away from over-taxed areas such as California and New York where you are right, the sidewalks are littered with trash and rundown buildings. Many are moving to the Bible Belt. In the last year, Oklahoma has gained over 31,000 new residents with two new lanes running north and south on I-35 from OKC to Dallas (thatā€™s not for no reason, someone somewhere knows traffic is going to pick up) and 7 new projects, including an amphitheater, indoor water park and a new skyscraper called Legend, Reg.
Canada is just like every other country in the world. We are all intertwined with global trade so attempting to imply that Canada is unaffected by trade wars is simply not the case at all so clarification really was needed and very much appreciated.

Thatā€™s why he appointed JD Vance, Kash Patel, Elon Musk, Vivek Ramaswamy, Tulsi Gabbard, Pete Hedseth and Tom Homan. Their solutions are simple.

I have to ask, Reg, how many states in the United States have you toured?

I havenā€™t counted. Probably about 20. I once had the idea of doing a road trip through all of the lower 48. I even posted a route here. I doubt that will ever happen. Road trips have lost appeal to me as Iā€™ve aged. I much prefer to fly where Iā€™m going.

Thatā€™s quite a few states. Did you experience poor economic conditions, homelessness, trash on the streets and old, run down buildings everywhere you went?

I do not remember ever seeing a post like that. Are you sure you posted it here and not Facebook or somewhere else?

Yeah, really! Whatever gets you there fastest.

Definitely not everywhere.

Definitely here. I saved the route so Iā€™ll just post it again. This takes me through all 48 in the lower 48, Vancouver to Vancouver.

It would take you a whole year to tour all those states. Of course, a pass through California may cost you a tax and you missed some beautiful scenery in Arizona but Iā€™m not surprised the route would lead through Colorado. The mountains are breathtaking but I wouldnā€™t recommend driving through them during in cold months. You got Oklahoma right. I think Bricktown is where Legend will be built. One thing that surprised me was your route through the NE states didnā€™t take you through Maine. I thought you have a buddy who lives there.
