US Gun Violence and Motive

It must be great living where guns are so readily available. Everyone must feel so much safer. Surely nobody would use guns for bad purposes.

How safe the children will be.

Before it’s over, you may wish you had one, if only a small hand held gun. That was a tragedy about the dolphin and makes using guns a difficult argument for gun owners.

Lawmakers in Tennessee passed a measure Tuesday that would allow school staff to carry concealed handguns on school grounds,

Dan, I’m surprised you didn’t have an opinion on this subject since your wife teaches. Do you think she would carry a gun to school if a bill passed there?

If she was required to possess a gun, she would quit. I would 100% support her choice. Many other teachers would too. I don’t think this would be a requirement, but we both think it is an awful idea.

I agree in that no one should be required to carry but given a choice, would you carry if you lived in a high crime area?

I personally would not. I would never shoot a gun. If I grew up in that situation, who knows.

Memphis is probably the worst city in the US. I wonder if any teachers will quit. A good chunk of the rnwjs would like to see public education eliminated, which is probably the dumbest viewpoint you could have.

I lived here for 14 years. Never needed a gun.

I know nobody asked me, but if I lived in the US in a high-crime area, I would probably buy a gun. I strongly prefer a society where there are almost no guns in circulation, but if that’s not an option, I don’t want to be the only one left defenseless. I don’t think I would hesitate to use a gun if my life or Isa’s life was in danger, and I acknowledge that could result in me making an error in judgment that could end someone’s life unnecessarily and land me in prison for the rest of my life. I’m happy to not have to worry about that here.

Do you carry a gun, Michele?

In fairness, the weather is frigid most of the time. Climate does play a part.

That’s a little surprising. Where does that come from? Somehow, I thought your answer would be more aligned with Dan’s, especially since the climates are similiar.

I did, in my car but I guess Hubby thought I was going to shoot my eye out so he took it.

Hubby is smart.

God. New England and the west coast should separate from the US. There is no hope that the rest of the US will come to its senses.

Agreed. The economy for the remaining :us: would fall apart. We probably wouldn’t be in any wars. Red states could afford nothing.

They could live on their guns and their constitution.

The 5th Circuit last year, in a separate case, ruled that the prohibition on drug users is unconstitutional.
Considering last years ruling, do you think the Supreme Court made a constitutionally lawful ruling here, Dan?

Nowhere in history has reading books made a 4 year want to kill themselves.

Good. I like CDN gun laws compared to America. Seattle is the American city closest to Vancouver and their homicide and shooting rate is far higher than Van City.

What’s to like? Your laws protect criminals from you, the innocent Canadian.

That’s because Seattle is run by death loving Democrats. They could clean that mess up if they really wanted to.
