Mark, today isn’t a good day to call. Copa (a South American airline) is refusing to let me bring the cat into the cabin of the aircraft which is screwing up our whole flight plans on the 24th. I’m trying to get this resolved but will probably end up spending the rest of the day on the phone.

And now United Airlines tells me I can’t bring a pet through Panama. Jesus. What a day. This is going to get expensive.
There is a virus preventing people from flying and they are worried about a cat? Is it because of allergies? They should be happy you are getting on a plane.
I’ve done this a hundred times before. I buy the ticket and call the airlines directly to add the pet since you can’t add it at any major online booking service. This time it’s bitten me in the ass. I have two tickets we can’t use. I’ve been on hold with Travelocity for over an hour. Apparently I’m not the only one calling today.
Well, they just told me “We’re really sorry, you did everything we said to do on our website but you’re screwed anyway. We can’t do anything for you”. I’m just out a couple of thousand dollars. Irritating.
In fairness, it’s also not Travelocity’s fault that Panama has gone insane over coronavirus, banning cats from flying through so they could say they did something.
I want to be back in Canada after which we both agreed not to travel for awhile.
How are you getting to Colombia?
I’m in Colombia. My flight went through Panama. Panama won’t let the cat through.
Can you get to anywhere in north america by another route?
Yes, I’m currently looking at Medellin-Miami-LA-Vancouver using American Airlines, but before I waste another couple of thousand I’m going to call American and make sure they have no issue with the cat at any of those stops. I just called them and the recording said, “we’re really busy due to coronavirus, please call again later”. I will.

After we reach Canada, I don’t know when we’ll travel again, Mark. Both of us are sick of it. I would be totally fine if we spent the rest of the year in Vancouver.
