Many failed multiple times to get the nomination. Once they had won the nomination and lost the election, I didn’t know of anyone who had come back to get the nomination again. Nixon is right. I looked it up. It’s not common. That was 60 years ago. I don’t think Romney would have a chance if he ran again.

The Republicans just won the senate seat in NC. This means the Dems need to win both seats in the Georgia runoffs, which won’t happen. The Republicans will keep the senate. There will be some return to normalcy but no meaningful change will come to the US for at least the next two years and possibly not for the next four. Hell, possibly not for the next 40. This is not news, but it is still irritating when it gets confirmed. It’s probably more than just irritating to sane Americans.
