Trump’s drug is entirely unproven but there’s some anecdotal information that indicates it might be promising. If it’s useful, we’ll need it for the hundreds of thousands of infected people around the world. Vaccines will only help those not yet infected.

That’s not true. There are many drugs that have shown promise. Trump advocates hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine. The Indians report having great results with Lopinavir, Retonovir, Oseltamivir and Chlorphenamine. Canadian scientists have broken the genetic code of coronavirus and that should lead to many new treatments. Americans are leading the race to a vaccine, which should get Daniel all paranoid but will protect the rest of us. Things are hopeful, and Trump’s shot in the dark is not the only weapon on our side.
If there are other promising drugs, why is anyone even considering a drug recommended by Trump that hasn’t been proven?
Because none of the drugs have been proven. We are in the “take a shot in the dark” stage. Clinical trials take time.
