Travels

What other parts? The museum? Ever thought maybe your wife would like to do something adventurous? Surely you can find something fun to do. I mean, the church was nice and you probably need that but I meant something that gets you out in nature. Like canoeing or hiking. The Colombian Mafia, under the watchful eye of the CIA, probably offers Drug Trade and Tourism hikes.

Colon hydrotherapy Reggie. Make an impact.

Michele, I’m far more adventurous than she is.

Oh look, a Colombia drug joke. How clever.

Is that why you took her to church? To repent and pray Jesus come soon?

No need to be sarcastic. There’s not much else to associate Columbia with, besides coffee and you covered that.

She is Catholic. She’s the one who always wants to go to church. We’re about to go to a church here in Salento at her request.

PS: Is this adventurous enough for you? The road to Salento through the high Andes in a rickety old bus driven by some Colombian pretending to be Lewis Hamilton. This was about an hour ago.

This is the vibe in Salento. Full of people, music, dancing, art and noise. I love it.

How do you “fit” or blend in with those people?

We made it to the poconos. Excellent hiking, but a dull place otherwise.

We did stop in New Haven. The pizza capital of the USA. They might have the best pizza in the world. A 12 inch pie was 18 bucks lol.

6.5 hours in the car today. 10.5 tomorrow. I’m mostly excited about Seneca.

Went to a wedding yesterday. Hiked 3 hours today along with the car ride.

My wife will miss the cats.

That’ looks bigger than 12,".

That’s a great photo of you. You should crop it and make it your avatar. Also Erika loves your cats.

Well…no, not really. It looked like a rough ride for you and dangerous but if I close my eyes it sounds like Hubby snoring.

You made pizza look healthy.

Pretty waterfall.

Done with the coffee region. It was impressive to see coffee growing almost everywhere, on every mountainside. I didn’t even know what it looked like before this trip.

Now off to Boyacá, Barranquilla, Santa Marta, and then ending in Bogotá. There’s some civil unrest in Tunja so we may have to skip Boyacá.

That is hard to believe. You mean in all the years you’ve been traveling to Columbia, when you pier through your little hotel window, you’ve never seen coffee?

True, actually. I’ve never been to the coffee region before. The high Andes have no coffee on them.

I have covid. Did not feel well yesterday. I actually do not have a fever. Was quite sore yesterday. That is actually better. I can function, but it means we can’t visit everyone. We did go to Terra Haute yesterday. They really like Larry Bird.

I will probably walk indiana university tomorrow. It is massive. Taking zicam and dayquil.

That’s unpleasant. At least it’s not a freak out thing like it used to be years ago.

Isa and I are in Barranquilla tonight. I have never been here before. It’s a bit soulless at night but I’ll reserve judgment until morning. The hotel isn’t the most beautiful we’ve stayed in but the Internet is excellent (which isn’t a given on this trip, as we’ve been visiting some smaller towns).
