Cruelty knows no bounds as long as scientific experiments are viewed as necessary to fight diseases.

God gave us all we need in our food to fight any disease.

While California, Greece and Turkey burn scientists have committed to not mine but studying a rock.

Reminds me of the 5th element. A little.

This guy assumes nobody will chop his hand off.

I don’t know why I dislike Teslas but I do. Their drivers are the worst on the road. Also Elon is fat.

You would support a nonsensical cycle that excludes the sun.

It would be impossible to change it now, but it’s too bad it wasn’t 13 months.

Seasons would be more complicated.

You’d probably have to kill everyone born between the 29th and 31st of a month. Or I suppose you could just start it now. Our congress is so useless, they can’t even vote on daylights savings.

We changed the clocks today. The worst day of the year.

What would you name the extra month?

Dan, it’s interesting that you should post that clip about the sun. I wonder how far technology has advanced in blocking it out.
Psalm 84:11

No, this time around we gain an hour of sleep. Spring is the worst. We have to change the clocks and we lose an hour of sleep.

I’ve configured things so I don’t have to change many clocks. Most of mine adjust for daylight savings. The one on the microwave oven doesn’t. All my mechanical watches don’t either but I have to set those every time I wear them anyway. The car is an hour off (I forgot to set it when I drove it an hour ago). That’s about it.

I would have gone the entire night without sleep if it meant not changing the clocks. I won’t see the sun until the middle of March.

I used to be totally pro-nuclear. I still am in principle. It’s clean and safe. We have learned not to build nuclear plants on the coastlines of tsunami-prone areas and not to build to soviet-era safety standards, but aside from that there have been no real issues.

That said, I no longer see the need for nuclear. Modern battery tech is able to store renewable energy in a way that is reliable enough to make renewable generation viable. If that’s the case, it is far better to have a million little solar farms, each powering a battery bank, and have the local community draw from that battery bank, than it is to have a few central nuclear power stations each powering millions of people. A failure in a small solar farm may affect a few hundred or even a few thousand people. A nuclear failure affects millions. It’s just vastly better to not put all your eggs in a few baskets.

A lot of people think we are on track for effectively free energy in the coming decades. I think that’s probably true in China and the rest of Asia. I’m not so sure about here. We seem to be on a stampede back to the Stone Age in the Western world.

Yes. I think Michele said she pays $700/month for electricity.
