Didn’t the sheriff get arrested for corruption? Also the news said Con used to sell meth out of one of the cop cars.
So guess he’s not the top cop anymore. Maybe he’s dealing drugs.
Joe was arrested. I don’t remember what happened with that case but he didn’t do any time in prison.
That was his son and he was selling meth out of Joe’s police car.
I doubt Joe is selling drugs. I imagine he is being watched. We own a rental unit in Leon. A few years ago a trailer was moved in across the street. Our renter told us he saw men in suits coming and going with computers. That trailer has since been moved out.
Is Con still in jail?
I see that Wilson is home to the oldest Assembly of God church in OK. Is that where you went to church?
Con was sentenced to 10 years for endangering others while eluding. He’s been out at least a year.
I did go there some with a neighbor. I’ve gone to Pentecostals more as an adult and do prefer it for praise and worship but really there is nothing like a Baptist fire and brimstone sermon to remind us that God is a consuming fire.
Do people in your pentecostal churches jump around and dance and speak in tongues?
They do rejoice and lift their hands in the air in praise, worship and surrender to God. And yes, there was a very few who spoke in tongues.
Have you never been in a holiness church?
I don’t know what a holiness church is, but I once went to a Pentecostal church about 20 years ago. I had an American gf with a 10 year old daughter who had moved to be in Calgary with me. The kid hated Calgary and I wanted her to have friends so I took her to the local church which was a huge Pentecostal place a short drive away. Because I had heard about Pentecostal churches before, I called up first and got the senior pastor who assured me that it was a dignified place and very few people spoke in tongues or anything. Anyway, off we went and when we got there, we found that the senior pastor was away and the junior pastor was doing the service, and he LOVED the attention and adulation of the crowd, who clearly loved him back. He was perhaps the biggest ham I’ve ever seen. He whipped the crowd up into a frenzy, dancing and singing and jumping around like they were all having epileptic fits and then before I had even grasped what was happening some lunatic fat woman up front started speaking in tongues and the chick sitting right beside us decided to “translate” the tongues. I helpfully asked loudly, “what the hell is wrong with her?” which got me unpleasant stares from all around. It was one of the weirdest experiences of my life.

Great story. When I live in a small town north of Tampa, one of our neighbors went to Assembly of God. I knew nothing about them. They invited us to attend the Christmas play at the church. They were new neighbors so in the spirit of friendly neighbors we went. It was like no christmas play I had ever seen. Ybor City in Tampa was the original colony of Cubans from way back and the city had rebuilt it except now it was more like Bourbon St. Party Central. The Christmas show was all about the evils of Ybor City with no good drunks and even a hooker (played by my neighbors humiliated daughter) on stage. It had nothing to do with christmas at all.

You can find something negative in every church, if you don’t have your eyes on Jesus when you walk in.
Do you pay attention to the sermons at your church, Reg? I was curious what a catholic sermon is like, you know, provided you listened to it.
Holiness and Pentecostal are interchangeable. If there is a difference, I don’t know what it is.

Not at all, no. Catholic sermons are especially boring.
Yeah they seem overjoyed don’t they. I don’t recall anything like that, except on tv. I suppose praise and worship means different things to different people. That’s why God has so many denominations.
Lol that’s not even Christian music but I suppose you can dedicate any song to the Lord.
