I look for gears and shift points in animals.
Pit Bulls are illegal in the UK along with other breeds in the dangerous dog act. There exceptions but canât be sold or bred or exchanged.
Hey but here is my theory. The thing is with Pit Bulls and Nico wants to to starts as puppies, is the underbite and forming of it. Pit Bulls had the reputation of instinctively going for the throat. But I think this terrier breed has a higher percentage of underbite compared to others. Some breeds just do. Underbites make it hard to chew food but easy to draw blood and pull of skin or soft flesh like the throat.
Not just the UK. Many countries ban the vile creatures.
So Nico if you want to take a look at puppies letâs take a look at underbites. You know the Alosaurus dinosaur had a week bite but a skull that could absorb massive amounts of force. You know how it killed prey with itâs weak bite force (less than a lion for 7 times the size?) It slammed itâs open upper row of teeth with massive impact down on its prey.
I think Pit Bulls with an underbite, especially and uncorrected and overpronounced underbite get frustrated losing food and being able to chew properly. The frustration leads to that need to sink in that heavy bloodthirsty underbite.
Thatâs my conclusion or malocclusion.
The underbite is just too much tension and need to be released.
10 to 1 Nico has a malocclusion issue. He either slams slams his head forward and hits his food with his upper teeth or holds fruit above his chin with his head tilted up and skewers it on his underbite and sucks the juices.
We should make a new poll on the breed:
Is the underbite on a Pit Bull natural and optimal for the breed?
A)yes it defines the breed as either a recessive or expressed gene
B)No it is malocclusion and should be corrected to preserve the breed and stop its bloodthirsty go for the jugular reputation.
pit bulls are illegal in the uk but there is a loophole, basically all you have to do is prove your dog is safe (read: pay the right people some money):
"If your dog is banned but the court thinks itâs not a danger to the public, it may put it on the IED and let you keep it.
Youâll be given a Certificate of Exemption. This is valid for the life of the dog.
Your dog must be:
- neutered
- microchipped
- kept on a lead and muzzled at all times when in public
- kept in a secure place so it cannot escape
As the owner, you must:
- take out insurance against your dog injuring other people
- be aged over 16
- show the Certificate of Exemption when asked by a police officer or council dog warden, either at the time or within 5 days
- let the IED know if you change address, or your dog dies"
C) I donât know so we better genocide the breed to be safe.
I would be ok with just removing the lower jaw.
This is actually a good set of rules below. It still doesnât protect kids in the family when the dog goes crazy, nor does it protect people if the dog escapes the house, but itâs a very good start. Might be good to implement something like this for the Dutch.
For the Dutch or their dogs?
For the Dutch, of course. They should be neutered, microchipped and forced to wear a muzzle.
I guess I had assumed they were neutered at birth.
I did come across a pit bull yesterday. I had a dental check up and they were doing things quite differently and only doing one thing at a time, so they just did a few routine x rays. While I was int he waiting room and I was lucky to be there as they were having people wait in their cars I noticed some older gentlemen walking a very stocky pit bull in the parking lot and letting it smell the bushes etc. He was there for a while and even after my x -rays. Well when I got out and walked by the dog I was amazed at its appearance. The fur was so gray and smooth as well as the white chest patch it looked like it was painted on the dog with brush strokes. The dog looked at me up at me when I walked by with my mask on and I just said âOh hey, pit bull, impressiveâ. It looked at me just showing its front jaw as to check for underbite or consenting for x rays or a dental exam. I didnât get aggressive at all. It looked like it braced itself for my reaction and would not have attacked even if I had directed a hard kick at it. It then looked away like it was a quite an experience for itself as a dog as it was for me as a person.
This changed my attitude somewhat.
I wouldnât test that. Those animals can snap at any point.
We may have to look at your overbites later.
