Pit Bulls

There are a lot of new dog breeds out now. I’m almost positive the genes of a pitbull can be split into several lines that nobody can say that is a pitbull by breed, and just as easily combined to produced a pitbull later.

I don’t know why the obsession was triggered or just exposed by this thread of the particular poster who posts the most in it. But the person seems obsessed with things American. When I think of Pit Bull I typically think of it as an exclusively American Breed and symbol of 20th century American dog breeding. But looking into its supposed origin it supposedly British and originated in the 19th century. What I read now about it is what I formerly read of The Old English Bulldogs bred for bull baiting and fighting badgers and foxes. It now seems like they are trying to erase the Bulldog with the Pitbull, because I used to read lots of dog books as a youth with no mention of a Pit Bull yet other breeds like Saint Bernard, German Shepherd or Alsatian, Dobermann Pinscher, and other supposedly controversial breeds. The first term pitbull was popularized by misuse in the bull terrier like Spud’s Mckenzie , Pitbull terrier I think was used to get it into the terrier group.

There is a breed called the American Bulldog which is not the same as The British Bulldog which is more similar to the British Shorthair Cat. If the Pitbull was actually bred from a bulldog it would closer to the American Bulldog and thus an American Breed. Neither American or British Bulldogs are in the terrier group.

What is in the terrier group and I think it is to purposely not the list the pit bull in the AKC. Is the American Staffordshire terrier which is basically a pit bull if you look at. The Stafforshire Bull Terrier is basically a Rottweiler(supposedly originated within the Roman Legions) in the terrier group. Probably among the top 5 breeds to be considered for banning would be the Pit Bull and Rottweiler. Including them in the terrier group while keeping them breeding stock and changing their national origins would be an effective strategy to be able to conceal and produce the breed in relatively short demand.

As far as the lineage of the pit bull being traced back to the british bulldog, the british short hair cat seems more probable the closer relative or possibly descendant.
The Rottweiler sounds german. So did The Roman Emperor Brittanicus’s original name Tiberius Claudius Germanicus before it was changed to Tiberius Claudius Caesar Brittanicus.

Not the only controversy. The translation of Lhasa Apso is said to be Temple Lion Dog but it as uncertain and even referenced as goat dog.

This could be a reference to the Tibetan Mastiff or even Chow Chow which is actually translated as puffy lion dog and often more similar to felines than other dogs and kept for such purpose.

It’s a shuffle to me and a game I have no understanding of whatsoever, could never learn how to play, but given the advice not to play from a Casino Coach tutorial…Red Dog because you end up turning black and blue.

If you are going to label something correctly you are going to have to decide how far back you want to trace it and come to an agreement or just not label it at all.

National identity might be an issue as well or disassociation with it or retained lineage in desire of identity. Take the Newfoundland for instance, other than the black fur it could be a Saint Bernard. And it is considered more a product of off Island British dominion more than Canadian. Pretty sure some can be trained in French amongst other languages.

In summary banning a breed is simply a question of staying one’s hand and allowing the cards to be reshuffled back into the deck.
The hand may not be seen for decades, but I’m sure the right players and dealer and some intense back and forth could produce it

Take the Barbary Lion(considered extinct) for example (there are more than one type of lion if you did not know and I am losing interest in lions). This could be a dog and cat combo lock on royalty.

The original SABREWULF from the KI in 1994 was a were that looked more akin to an American Pit Bull as opposed to a wolf or any other breed,
The newer version looks more like a goat or lamb/sheep with canine dentition than anything.

Do you ever leave the manic stage?

Some people are stupid about peoples, leaving one pitbull tied up to guard the property at night. You need at least 3-5 dogs and an area where they can have sides protecting them. Just because it is a pitbull doesn’t mean it has any chance against a coyote pack or worst wolves. Some wolves are not that fierce or robust. But the real wild efficient hunters look very long and lanky but have such power is almost seems they snatch up a dog like pitbull and carry it away in flight.
Coyotes though smaller and lighter in frame have a terrible advantage in terms of angles of attack and speed. They also have a deceptively dangerous reach advantage.
And I know some pitbulls have a head that looks like a cement block and superior to a wolf, but don’t mistake wolves when it comes to getting in a deadly bite. Or coyotes when it comes to speed or luring a dog away to its pack.
Pitbulls make easy prey alone, some people don’t realize that. You might have a good pack of 5 dogs able to fend off wolves or coyotes but if you want to reduce it to just 1, 2, or 3 because the dogs are
pitbulls that is just sad. I used to work in an area where I would hear dog barks and a coyote and then the pack frenzy and just quiet. I thought coyotes were pushovers. Some are not.

Look at this wolf jiu jitsu

Coyotes are deadly. And they want to be chased.

All it takes is one or two unexpected good nips. Look how slippery.

I saw a coyote like this prowling the neighborhood.

Pit bulls have a good low center of gravity and strong forward attack and side to side head shake. What they don’t have wolves, coyotes, and foxes do is the snaking u bend and bite just like the fire fox logo.

They should be sold for food in China.
