Liked his reality tv show. Did not know he had two of them. Sabbath was stupid to kick him out of the band. Have his first two albums and the Diary Of A Madman diary which I won from CFOX. Saw his first solo tour got to front row was surprised how fat he was. Saw him at GM Place the night he collapsed after 3 songs after a night of partying at Charlie Champagne’s on Granville St. And the make up show. Saw him when he did the 13 tour with Black Sabbath. Listened to Down To Earth and Master Of Reality and Volume 4 and Diary Of A Madman today.
Spend anytime at the grocery store reading Hit Parader while mom was shopping?
I saw him in 84’. Motley Crew opened for him on his “Bark at the Moon” tour.
Here’s a clip of his last concert:
and the original version:
I’m not complaining but you don’t have to create a new threat for every conversation piece. There’s probably a “Music” thread of some kind somewhere in here.
Rolling Stone was my mag to read had a subscription for at least a couple years. Barely read Creem though respect the writing of Lester Bangs. Spin was good think I read Hit Parader once. Get In The Ring by GNR where Axl rips the music press is great. Use Your Illussion 1 and 2 saved my life after my first detox and living in my first SRO the College Place Hotel 1992 I think it was.
Man. I can’t recall the age I first heard him. I remember as a kid seeing crazy train on TV, I turned 9 and heard it again. I think finally at 11, I heard Mr. Crowley and it was like tasting bacon for the first time. The last CD I bought of Ozzy’s was The Ozzman Cometh, and the second disc had some sweet Sabbath on it, so it sent me to go through their music. Planet Caravan, man…
I’d have to say Shot In the Dark is one of my favorites, probably more niche than any other Ozzy fan.
Jack Black’s tribute with Morello’s boy, definitely also an ode to Randy Rhoads as well - they hit that pretty well, it had the same “crunchy” menacing but fill of story riffs.
One thing that stood out over the years, hearing his live tracks and such, he always made a point to tell the crowd “I love you all!”
As a teen, any mag with Ozzy in it, I was reading… Paying or not
Thank Ozzy for your return.
Powerful voice but his shocking performances were most memorable. Biting the head off of bats was not a good look for him, although his audiences grew after that. That’s what I never understood about his concerts. Why would anyone with talent like his and such a pretty voice to fill the soul of any crowd feel the need to disgust people with acts that were so shocking and some even sickening, like when he urinated on the Alamo Cenotaph. He was banned from performing in San Antonio for that incident and received a great deal of backlash for it. Why did he do it? Because he could. Lame excuse, so incredibly disrespectful and shows clear disregard for his fan base in San Antonio but wealth buys power but snorting ants to his own detriment crossed a line few others in the world would ever have imagined. I will never understand that one but his voice delivered some of the prettiest music the world has ever had the privilege of being exposed to. I love his music.
Rabies is almost always fatal as we are told by the health and medical authorities ,some people don’t get the shot even after being but by a bat or exposed to bat saliva just because the.vaccine cost is enough to bankrupt and reposses a person and their assets. Also if there are symptoms it’s supposedly irreversible.
It’s seems something so evil, but it’s quite an act of faith and enduring faith and belief. A gift of faith.
Ozzy’s bats are likely domesticated.
That would be the only instance where I could support getting the shot. Rabies, like cancer, should be taken seriously.
It’s not right to bankrupt people for needed medicine. I hope Trump and RFK Jr. goes after the medical community to cut costs. If anyone can reduce our cost to what people in 3rd world countries pay, Trump can make that happen and lives will be saved.
Agreed. Copyright/trademark/patent law should die.
Your timing is so perfect.
Perfect. Copyright/trademark/patent law/and Trump should die.
Ozzy didn’t have bats.
He was thrown one on stage, he bit into it.
He was shown in a movie biting the head off one, but obviously animated.
Interesting. I assumed that was part of his live performances. The bat thrower was Mark Neil, who kept the bat in his freezer until the night of the concert. The loss he spoke about on Letterman was Randy Rhoades, his guitarist, who died in a plane crash, for the curious.
Great post. Ozzy was kicked off CBS records after biting 2 doves heads off.
Reggie left the seat down and 2 unwrapped pieces of dove chocolate on it.
That is as gross as hell. Disgusting.
Seems dark, which is strange behavior since he considered himself a Christian.
