Tariff’s imposed under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) were illegal. Tariff’s are not illegal, but then, neither was buying up the debt when Lutnick’s son knew imposing the tariffs were illegal under that Act.
The tariffs certainly were not an emergency. That was the claim, to avoid congress.

I guess we have a different view of the word “emergency.” To me, an emergency means death will happen if something isn’t done quickly. Tariffs are not emergencies. Either way, they didn’t work.

I define an emergency as a serious, unexpected and often dangerous situation requiring immediate action. If you think repeating the previous trade policy with foreign countries would change the outcome, you’re part of the problem.
