Then why doesn’t Messianic Jews follow the Talmud?

Because they aren’t real Jews. They are Christians with a Jewish mother. They accept Christ. To them, Christ fulfilled the Law.

Then why do they follow the Torah?

Michele, try to get this. It’s really not complicated. The Torah is part of the Bible. Messianic Jews follow the Torah because it it part of the Bible. They are just Christians with a Jewish mother.

In other words they are crazy with the added burden of a Jewish mother.

They are no sillier than other Jews. They believe in Christ. The other ones believe they are God’s Chosen People. It’s all just fairy tales.

I do get it, Reg. I know what the Torah is. That’s not complicated. I know what messianic Jews are. Not complicated. What I don’t understand is why you don’t see them as real Jews.

Maybe they are.

Oh wait. It’s because they have a Jewish mother.

Why they’re not real is obvious. They believe in Christ. The moment you believe in Christ, you stop being a Jew (or Muslim or atheist or whatever you were before) and become a Christian.

This isn’t true but for kicks and giggles, is everyone in the world born a Jew before they become whatever religion they are going to be?

This is not a correct statement. It’s actually nonsensical.

No, Michele, they’re not, and if you want to think of messianic Jews as real Jews, that’s totally fine with me. I choose not to use that label but if you do, I have no objection at all.

It is to me. You can’t practice Judaism and Christianity simultaneously.

Oh, no. You misunderstand. I’m not asking permission. I’m just trying to understand your bizarre Jewish beliefs.

Why not?

This is not true.

For what it’s worth, Messianic Jews and Jews For Jesus agree with you. Most other Jews dislike Messianic Jews. Pick your labels. I’ll pick mine.

Isn’t that the kind of thing you believe? nonsensical?
